I have been repeatedly pointing that we should be careful enough not to mix-up conventional VU meters with other (log-compression) peal lelvel meters, especially in terms of their ballistic behavior and/or specification.
The large-glass-face DIY 12-VU-Meter Array in my audio rig (ref. #535 and #545) is IEC 60268-17 compatible in ballistic behavior, and I at least myself like and enjoy such ballistic behavior being well fit with our (my) actual music/sound listening subjective sensations.
IEC 60268-17 defines ballistic behavior of conventional VU meters as follows;
