NAD M10 Streaming Amplifier Review

These are the differences of the amplifier stage adjustments, driven also by customer requests:

V2:
Its updated gain algorithms allow 6dB higher output levels with inefficient speakers. The subwoofer outputs also have higher gain, allowing for a wider range of subwoofer-main speaker combinations.
Input sensitivity (for 100 W in 8 ohms)
Line In: 456 mV
Digital In: -13.23 %FS

V1:
Input sensitivity (for 100 W in 8 ohms)
Line In: 1.0 V
Digital In: -6.2 %FS

SINAD at 5W went down from 86dB on V1 to 74dB on V2.

Still good enough for my TT and RIAA with sinad of about 70 (best case scenario, when my kid is not running around stomping). ;)

That's quite a hit of 8dB, interesting. Not really worried about it but not happy either. I hadn't checked v2 measurements as I'm skipping that one of course.

I didn't know about that penalty on the sinad on the V2. V1 is a marginal performer, I'd call the V2 a below average performer and a terrible value because of the cost. It's still a cool design and functionality is awesome.

What one box solutions would be better and cheaper? I'm a bit of a M10 fan, yes, but this is a genuine question as the market isn't exactly flooded with this stuff.

There's not a better solution. It's a cool box. I bought one of these when they came out. Early adopter. Fought all the gain problems. Got crushed by the ASR review. Had the unit fail out of warranty. Got it replaced by a Lenbrook VP. Now I just follow along. I'm going to try and work it into my main system again with the Fosi V3 mono's for power like another member.

Have a look at the Wiim Ultra and see what you think.

Looks nice and affordable but it's not comparable even close as it's missing proper room correction and amp.

Wiim:
"3. Subwoofer: Currently, room correction is not compatible with subwoofers. Check your subwoofer's crossover frequency and ensure the correction range starts above this crossover."

I'm sure they'll get there but at the moment it's basically a limited feature beta test.

Better, who knows...

C700v2, true. :D The amp is a bit weak, I tested v1 at home. But the price point is very good.

Lyngdorf TDAI-2210 offers a great experience for people who want automatic correction and not complexity of Dirac. Here, too, the amp is weak, but if it's enough, it's great.

Sonoro looks good. And oh my, CD.

I don't have a problem with the price point of 1500-2000€ but it'll be interesting to see what Wiim does. It won't be easy to integrate everything for under 1000€ retail.

Ok, Sonoros has cd-player, headphone out and mm-riaa. I could just sell M10, riaa, cd-transport and HP-amp.

"Mains cable with phase marking"
Yeah, nice. :D

I'm just very very suspicious of the quality. Those slot loading mechanisms can be total junk, riaa full of noise and clipping and HP out almost certainly is sub standard...

Bluesound, PSB and NAD are part of the same family. They share the same support team and I imagine they share the same product design team. Their products share the same architecture philosophy to meet different price points. Like @iLoveCats I've had the same experience with the M10 other than it failing and while its a good idea, they never got it guite right from the get go. The V2 has aspirations of being a multi channel thing now for some reason, neither fish nor fowl. Nonetheless I like it a lot - but I'd not get another.

When the time comes to change the M10 out I'd be looking for something similar, but without the need for amplification. While the BluOS environment is a good thing, its not a deal breaker. And Dirac is available elsewhere.

This is a different class of product, arguably not as slick as the M10 in some ways. Now I have good amps, this sort of thing makes sense if I need to retire the M10. I'm giving it some thought

I cant hear measuring values, I can hear noises which should not be there and I can hear when the sound is bad, flat or whatever.
Before I used 4 devices to produce "my sound" (SMSL SU9, PiCore with Allo DigiOne, Antimode x2 and a fantastic Chinaclone Class A Amp).
This sounded very well but I didnt use it very often as switching 4 devices on and wait for bootup and so forth ... got me lazy over time.

With M10 I have a clean Sideboard with only one nice looking device, with big Touchscreen which works to me perfect. I listen to it any free minute, just walk by touch and it switch on and plays. I dont miss anything with the sound compared to my former setup, so I am the first time sure that I will keep it until its broken. Its simply the best using experience I can imagine.
If anybody writes its below average performer ... I am pretty puzzled and have no words for that.
Maybe it is because I never use the M10 at the top end with the volume level? I just dont get it ...

It’s a very good small room system no doubt. It’s easy to use and sounds great with the right speakers. It’s pretty easy to live with and good looking for extra win. But on the edges it can be a bit strained. If it’s never really pushed it’s just fine.

The conversation sort of turned to its awkward early days which for some of us were a little painful and maybe left some scars. It’s sorted now and in my case provided a lot of entertainment.

The experiment is concluded. M10 V1 now with 2 Muse 02 op amp equipped Fosi V3 mono connected via XLR (yes the M10 outputs are not balanced) which means 20db gain at the amp and voila, everything wakes up together including the sub and sounds epic. Tuned with Dirac using the standard NAD curve tweaked ever so slightly to tame the top end - jaw dropping sound, more than sufficient power for the space. Super happy with how its finally worked out.

Love it. I have the exact same equipment and when I get set up again I'm definitely going to try this combination.

Hello!
My HiFi dealer mentioned that there is the M10 v3 in planning phase. If everything goes well it should be released by the end of the year.
Has anybody heard of any hardware details? What will be the changes?
Thanks
