The long black pipe in the center coming down from the ceiling should be the center subwoofer, right?:D
That would remind me of the Technics SST system :D (I own myself the loudspeakers but unfortunately not the huge subwoofer):

I'm going to introduce this speaker in a separate thread when the time is right, but wanted to ask you whether you think we should add veneer to the top part of the speaker. That's the initial plan. Or obviously we could do both. Feet will be added to the speaker BTW.

An example of veneer added to the top section her with a Marten speaker:

Given how massive it is, like the idea of a veneer end-cap or something that breaks it up visually…

Another approach would be to use a lesser gloss on the front baffle. Would help hide fingerprints and reduce reflectivity for home theater applications.

Are you guys dismissing that horn without hearing it or seeing the measurements? Is there something about the design that tells you they will be no good?

For me, it's just that those huge wood ones are horrific looking. Don't care how they sound and I'd rather see that beautiful wood put to better purposes.

Just as a recommendation for people posting photos of audio items, it would be nice for us readers but also for the original owners or uploaders of them and the corresponding webspace if you would also include a link to the photo sources, which makes it also easier to find what the brand and model is.

I think these look very cool for desktop speakers, particularly in red. They are called Jamo DS7 and where for sale in 2016 or so.
I'm watching all kinds of places in the hopes a set may pop up.

You probably knew about their big--BIG--brother. I saw a pair once but didn't have the chance to listen.

I like the look (and sound) of the old JBL XPL-series. A pair of XPL-200 with a KEF reflected in the cabinet finish, perhaps longingly?

Here is a writeup:
I disagree with the author's point about M2 being too revealing...

The cabinetry work is so solid, and the finish looks great in person. I loved the sound of the XPL-200 with both passive and biamped with the active DX-1 crossover.

JBL's documentation is great. Rather than 100 words of prose describing the crossover, they provide a schematic.;) Words are cheap and can be added later....

Early and original Lansing Iconic. I copied the picture from the blog of a highly esteemed old acquaintance of mine, Holger Barske.

It's funny to me, because in Danish 'Holger Barske' translates to something like 'Holger the tough/rough/relentless', and the aesthetics of that speaker sort of matches that :D
