Master List of New Speakers

Wharfedale Super Linton https://www.wharfedale.co.uk/super-linton/
Visually very similar (if not identical) to regular Lintons. However what is promised here is better driver technology. Price-wise expect a significant increase. In Europe around EUR 2000/pair (compared to EUR 1000-1200/pair for regular Lintons). Available starting mid-November.

Let's say the Super Linton’s measures pretty similar to the regular Linton’s which are already considered to be measuring well, what does the better driver technology do for the sound of the speakers?

according to Wharfedale's pretty thorough sales documentation they've put out, better tweeter performance and tighter, deeper bass from the new drivers and perhaps greater detail (less distortion?) from the new crossover:

According to Erin, ability to be placed close to wall without boomy bass, and a bit better deep bass, a somewhat smoother response, and better distortion measurements and lack of compression at high levels.

Stuff that is hard to "See", but a good bit of improvement. Took it from very good to great I guess?

Unfortunately Wharfedale chose to use a shelved bass approach similar to Revel and some others, which is great when you will have the speakers within a foot or so of a wall, but which results in rather poor bass performance if they are 3-4 feet from the wall. This was probably a good decision for 90% of their customers since these are large standmounts or bookshelf speakers that are great for smaller to medium sized rooms, but for at least one of the rooms where I was using them it doesn't work.

Dynaudio Confidence 20A. Active speaker. Info from SoundStageHiFi.

"The 20A, an active version of Dynaudio’s passive Confidence 20, employs a 400W amplifier for the midrange-woofer and a 100W amplifier for the tweeter, both amps supplied by Denmark’s Pascal Audio. The amplifiers and digital circuitry are integrated into its bespoke stand.... a two-way design featuring only a 1.1″ tweeter and a 7″ midrange-woofer....

The Confidence 20A won’t be available until the first quarter of 2025. The projected price is $24,000 a pair in the US (€20,000/pair in Europe, including VAT). This price includes the bespoke stands, which are integral to the design. Prospective buyers should be mindful that the built-in electronic circuitry does not include streaming capability or full-blown room correction, though there are dials on the stand to adjust for room placement and overall tonal balance."

The stand appears to have balanced inputs (could be digital AES also?) and either a USB or Ethernet port. The description makes it sound like these speakers are an all analog system, however.

A testament to the wonder of sighted-listening evaluations: "...they sound amazing, like they have three subwoofers attached."
