Again? They made some sort of recognizable push before? Harman's old Logic stuff may not have crossed the corporate division lines?Hi Folks,
Came across this out of the UK... no sign of it elsewhere yet...
AVR's ranging from 5.2 to 9.2, with Class D amps of up to 140W@8ohm, and Dirac in the top models.
Looks like JBL is ready to make a push into the mainstream AVR market again...
(for the "faithful" old timers, no sign of Logic7/Logic16)
You are right, I wrote JBL, but was thinking "Harman".... which is now all Samsung anyway!Again? They made some sort of recognizable push before? Harman's old Logic stuff may not have crossed the corporate division lines?
Agreed, it looks great. There's also good news in that someone may be sending Amir one for testing in the not-too-distant future...Wow! Looks like I finally found a replacement for my aging Pioneer Elite SC-LX801. The MA-7100HP is a great price and supports DIRAC.
How reliable could these be if the marketing folks cannot spell 'acoustics?'
I don't think there's any information on that, at least that I've been able to find. The only shot I can find of the internals doesn't seem to shed much light on the matter either:I am assuming they are using their own class-D amplifiers?
It does look a bit like the Drivecore ClassD chipset used in previous JBL poweramps, Crown amps, and some past Lexicon amps...This was posted a few days ago on AVS.
I've already had a couple minutes with the 9100hp and it works really, really well. Pushing the amp with a new line of JBL loudspeakers in a large room to high spl didn't seem to bother the amp at all. Looking inside, the amps seems to be TPA 3255 based (I could be wrong though..). I can't tell whether PFFB is inplemented. Soon I'll have more tine with the amp, enabling me to form a better opinion, but so far I'm impressed. It clearly differs from the Denon/Marantz/Onkyo etc offerings in a couple of ways. Some will like this, others might not. I certainly appreciate the different approach.
Which was to be expected and certainly not even Dirac Live was active here. A listening comparison with an A1H would be interesting. Unfortunately there is no multi-channel reactive load test yet.so far I'm impressed <-- source AVS
