Parasound A51 to Class D

Need some help or opinion. I have a Parasound A51 which I only use 3 channels for my Revel F208 and C208. The rest of the 8 speakers run off Marantz power (7.1.4). I'm thinking about a nice class D to replace it but I worried it might be a down grade. Dont get me wrong I like the Parasound but I have it on a BDI media center with the Marantz and it get really hot in that cabinet. The heat causes Marnatz fan on sometimes and it a bit annoying I'm about 6 feet from it. Also I'd like the get something that was better on my power bill, lol. I only use this for HT. I know that newer class D test better but do you guys think I would see a noticeable difference good or bad?

The Marantz by itself probably has enough power for "home use". A "better" amplifier won't sound better unless there's some defect with the AVR or if you are over-driving it into clipping.

There's been some discussion hear about the efficiency of class-D amps and under normal conditions they aren't necessarily more efficient. They ARE more efficient with constant full-power test-tones.

What about heat? Also the parasound does sound better than the Marantz imo.
