$1 find at the library today - a really good album with Bing - from the early days of Verve. Interesting liner notes about the release and how the album was overshadowed in 1956 by both the contemporaneous Verve Ella and Louis album as well as the release of the single "True Love" by Bing from the High Society movie soundtrack. All of which conspired to keep this little gem out of the limelight. Really good classic song selections and arrangements by Buddy Bregman. Bing sounds vocally relaxed, it has a nice jazz sensibility throughout. I'm selective about vocal jazz - I like it, but tend to like instrumental jazz more - and it's rare that a well-known artist can surprise me anymore. But this album did!
