Hello guys,

I have the sundaras plus e50/l50 stack for home and I would like to purchase something for the office/ cafe use. I hate iems… cant stand them being in my ears…

So, ease of use, noise isolation/cancellation, comfort must be prioritized (and sound of course :p)

Can you please recommend anything that would be suitable? I dont mind being wired as long as I can hook it up to my iphone and offers good sound isolation. Also i dont plan to eq on these

Thanks!!

Hi @Georgekit77 ! Welcome to ASR.

How much do you want to spend?

Do you want a passive, wired headphone or a Bluetooth headphone?
The Bluetooth headphone has a battery that'll inevitably lose its capacity over time and eventually fail.
On the other hand, active noise cancelling enables noise isolation even at low frequencies, while passive headphones will pass noise below ~300Hz to your ears 1:1, without attenuation. Think airplanes, metro, public transport.

For around the $ 400.- mark there is the Austrian Audio Hi-X60.
Good build quality, comfort (clamping force a bit high) and room for the ears, easy to drive even from a phone/dongle, good passive isolation. No BT nor a mic... it is a studio headphone that can be used for music enjoyment.
Needs a good seal. Neutral sound, a bit sharp with some recordings.
Not deviating very much from Sundara sound... for a closed headphone but much better sub bass extension (with good seal).

What do you mean by false?
Why would Solderdude's DIY flat plate rig produce more correct measurements than Sean's industry standard GRAS 45CA-10?
The flat plate's acoustic impedance is nowhere near that of a human ear.

With all smoothing and hat difference that's not even close or I am blind.
Edit: to reconfirm and validate.
Peak moved from 7K to 6K but bass boost to 300 Hz is similar.
Always take manufacturers measurements with a grain of salt until multiple independent confirmations.

anything more than $100 is basically a scam, don't throw money into meaningless stuff.

DCA requires some decent amplification when you also want to listen at a bit louder levels.
The other ones do that directly from a phone.

They need a decent amount of power.
To drive them, I'd look for a Topping G5, Topping NX7, or E1DA 9038S.
The others on the list have an advantage in that you can drive them from an Apple dongle.

They seem nice but there is no point if i have to have an external amp, i already have the sundaras for the home

I prefer something portable and easy to use

I've heard the airpodmax is nothing special.

For wireless:

The Sony WH-1000XM4/5 are really good for noise cancellation, the sound is okay.

Bose QC series is not objectionable.

I personally enjoy the B&W P7/8/X series as well.

I think the Focal Bathys will have better sound than the above, but haven't tried them. Overall, I personally prioritize ANC performance over SQ when I'm out of the house. AFAIK Sony is currently the leader in that category.
