ahem. I was being facetious. Then how does a CD player, which is strictly limited to a tad over 20kHz, get it done? It can't generate a legitimate audio signal above that.

There must be something between the bits and samples....... right ?Then how does a CD player, which is strictly limited to a tad over 20kHz, get it done? It can't generate a legitimate audio signal above that.

I think you missed the intent of the emoji. Then how does a CD player, which is strictly limited to a tad over 20kHz, get it done? It can't generate a legitimate audio signal above that.

Sorry, I missed that.ahem. I was being facetious.
Someone needs to make matching stairstep speakers.Every time I listen to a digitally sourced signal played back into analog speakers, I just can't hear anything but stairsteps. The music would sound so much better it they got the steps out of the way.
So, as I am known for, not facetious but poor humor!
"The Cage"? I would call it Nicolas and place a huge overact-button at the front.Vivaldi, I think...
Is Varese a better composer than Vivaldi? Could it be the other way around? What would "The Cage" system look like? Would it be silent?
If speakers (ever) reach a TD of about - 90 to 100 dB .... we can start discussing unaudibility of differences ... but this will now and in the near future be impossible, and after this, probably unnecessary as modes of listening to music might change ...Someone needs to make matching stairstep speakers.
Family dogs hate this trickovertones.
very important.
This seems like a good time to mention that long time loudspeaker designer and manufacturer Winslow Burhoe (he of Epicure Products Inc./"EPI Module" fame) at one point in his long career had a product that he called The Silent Speaker. What would "The Cage" system look like? Would it be silent?
“Don’t be afraid to try new things. When you go on the audio forums, there are people who like to discover and tweak and try to optimize their system to get the most out of it. Then there are people who are vehemently opposed to the idea that anything could make a difference. I’m certainly not in the second camp.”
“And yet you’re a scientist” I told him. “And still you believe in such things as better audio cables.”
“I absolutely have heard so much of a difference that that’s why I keep doing it,” he said. “I have very good hearing. I’ve travelled to all these different homes in Europe belonging to people who are experienced audiophiles, musicians, concertgoers, and here I am with no formal musical training, able to tune their system to the way they want to hear it. It’s not just me tweaking it, these people are part of the process. I want them to hear it the way they want to hear it. After all this, I can absolutely say that these tweaks or these improvements with cables, with power, with vibration control are, without a doubt, real. It’s like transforming a Volkswagen Golf into a BMW M5.”
Inevitable "Hypex nCore performs better and costs a 20th" top commentI think we have a winner here:
Holy sh... where is that legal anyway?Inevitable "Hypex nCore performs better and costs a 20th" top comment
And that power cable... ugh. Completely illegal to sell in the EU, I guess.
Yeah, that was weird as well. I'd assume for the price of a nice Porsche 911 GT2 RS you'd get fat cables with big spades too. But hey, looks like it comes with a free, high resolution pristinely analog 3/4" wrench!Holy sh... where is that legal anyway?
Speaker binding posts are nice though. Just odd that it does not come with matching spades, some good contact area wasted there. But I guess buyers still want to buy whatever cables even if a matching set was provided.
Edit: But not the worst snake oil (unless you ask fire department and insurance company), I'm sure it's a nice high powered amp and works fine.
