I'd also worry about anything containing software and a network connection of any sort - how long will they provide security updates, and how long will the advertised feature set continue working?
That's also a very real risk, forcing companies to open source code if they fold or stop supporting products would be a way forward with that. There have been several IOT products already rendered useless by manufactures abandoning them after only a year or so, it's only going to get worse.

For some of the newer packages like DFN/QFN and BGA they have rework stations that use split vision systems to allow placement of the parts. There's a pic and vid on my webpage of one - an older version APE system.

One thing about these leadless packages is the need for X-Ray to inspect assembly. Glenbrook makes one that's almost affordable, tho still in the tens of thousands:
