about water towers, those American ones are always so ugly. We in Europe tend to make it look good, more like a statement building as you can see it from far. Some examples:

And i could go on some pages if i wished. They are also considered monuments in many cases down here, more than functional.

The 59-metre-high structure[4] is located next to Berlin Ostkreuz station in the middle of the railway area and was used for the water supply of the steam locomotives. Until the mid-1980s, the water tower was still in operation. The tower has been privately owned since 2015."

One I particularly like is The House In The Clouds, in Thorpeness, Suffolk. It was originally the village's water tower, now a private house used as a B&B.
