Very cool. The tonearm can be changed out.
Yep, I had 2 so I could keep a MC and MM cartridge all setup inc track weight, etc.
I could change the arm in 30 seconds and be ready to go with a push of a button on the MC amp.

Yes, very nice. That P-mount was a limiting factor in the Technics. I never saw a MC ever for them.

You could buy quality T4P MC cartridges from Technics for a couple of years. This is from a german Technics catalogue from 1988:

Nice. Thanks for the heads up on the MC product. Here in Canada we had limited access from what I was advised when we where selling Technics linear trackers like hotcakes. I asked for MC cartridges but my boss of the time said none where available so I ran with that.

As far as I know, only certain markets outside Japan were supplied by Technics/Matsushita with a nearly complete range of products. Germany was one of them.

Yes, I kinda figured that. We would see all the high end Technics stereo gear and drool and none of it was on the Canadian Price lists. Kind of a shame because Technics was making some pretty nice higher end gear at the time. :D

is it beautiful? im not sure. It is certainly interesting.
Not to my eye. For horns, I’d rather go for these La Scalas with rosewood veneer. Oh la la!l

Edited: Earlier post said “redwood” instead of “rosewood”.

Those La Scalas are very nice and the wood is exceptional. Myself I like that industrial raw look of bare horns and compression drivers displayed in the room. :D I've been there and done the horn thing for some years and I must admit they had the most impactful, live sounding and detailed midrange that I've owned and heard.

The Klipsch cabinet department in Hope AK does some amazing woodwork.
Outstanding American craftsmanship!

Not my cup of tea, direct drive and all that.
My last table that I used for 20 some years was a Harman Kardon ST-8 with the Rabco design straight line arm.
The earlier ST7 and such had issues and were quite buggy.
They got it right with the ST8 and it had the bits I desired. (SLT arm, belt drive, cue lever, auto end of record pickup, etc)
Here's the ebay pictures I sold it with, probably should have just kept it, but all it did for the last 10 years or more was to sit there and collect dust. Along with all the unused LP's taking up space. :(

Look at all the extra goodies guys. Dynavector Ruby cantilever mc cartridge, Supex 900 Super mc, Stanton 881S mm, Marcof battery powered moving coil stepup amp, more. Guy I sold it all to in 2009 got a hell of a deal in todays vinyl dollars.

Hah! I still have a working ST-7 with a Dynavector Ruby!

i sure don't want to sound rude, but...
i think my old APC UPS has the same screen:rolleyes:
It’s a twenty year old amplifier and the screen still works so I can attest to its longevity. Something more “classic” would improve the aesthetics. A serif typeface maybe!

But, these rosewood veneers are not factory finishes. This is by a restorer of vintage units. This is what they looked like before restoration:
