McIntosh sold off Audio Research to the the AR former sales director, from what I've read. Bankruptcy? I didn't hear that.
There's a book coming out or out already about the history of Audio Research company and its products.
 
Discovered this thread way to late, but just have to post. I have always lusted after McIntosh amps mostly because of the unbelievable design with the incorporation of THE VU meters on the front panel display. As in real life however, love is fickle. Goodbye McIntosh, hello my new passion

That's a really sweet look, but watchnerd is right. It would be awesome to be able to chance colors. Should be a piece of cake to do with todays tech.

I've never heard of it. It's a old classic book. Now that I googled it and found the comprehensive Wikipedia entry on it it seems I've led a sheltered life. :D It is not available on Netflix. That's a part lacking on Netflix; the lack of classics and older tv series.
