I have a little annoying issue with it, otherwise it's been a charm to use a combo on desktop. I can't swap the level change incrementation. I get into the startup menu and go from 0.5db to 1.db incrementations, then saves the settings but it never actually works and still go 0.5 by 0.5, which i find super slow.
Is that a bug someone else encountered too? Im on the last firmware i believe.
0dB to -50dB will always change in 0.5dB increments. The option only changes the increment below -50dB. Who knows why it works like that, but 0.5dB is a bit slow for me as well.

Wow ok, always thought it was a bug. Yes it's annoying, especially when you are on the headphone amp, takes age to go through something like 10db

Mine's developed a fault with the optical connection. There are breaks in the sound every 5 seconds or so. I've got the newest driver and firmware. It was fine for the first year and now it's in the second year so it's out of warranty. I could send it in and ask if they can fix it at my expense. Has anyone else had a similar problem and fixed it? I've got an RME now so I was hoping to sell it.
I had problems with my dx3 pro+ with the optical, the same you mention, stuttering and breaks in audio

I changed the other day to the dx7 pro+ and it was the same, time ago I thought it was just simply a bug of the motherboard

today, I fixed it on the dx7 pro+ changing the SPDIF mode from 1 to 2. It was the topping optical implementation all along, dx3 users afaik are out of luck, but mode 2 will solve it on the dx7 pro+

that mode is not documented on the manual and was added post-release on a newer firmware.

Try yourself if it fixes it, just power off with the back button the DX7, press the wheel, turn on with the back button while maintaining the wheel pressed, you are now in the factory menu, go to option 18, change SPDIF mode from 1 to 2 and if your problem is like mine, should be fixed.

That's fixed it. Thank you. It was only happening to me on my Samsung TVs and not my tv recorder box so it obviously depends on the output on the equipment.
glad it did

It's a bit infuriating that it was a topping problem since the beginning and they only fixed in on the dx7 and not the 3, while also opening tickets with asus because the dx3 worked fine on the 2 other outputs I tried but not on the motherboard, so for me was "clear cut it's a mobo problem", yet it was topping

I hope they address this for everyone and they document it because it's a pretty big problem, but at last it's solved at least on the dx7 or other high end dacs.

Unfortunately I was correct. I thought it might have been the amplifier. I've done all the switching of wires. My left DAC XLR channel has loud crackles, loud enough that it's disturbing me when it's at idle. I've had it for about a year. It's intermittent and switching it off at the back and turning it on again helps.
the very same problem, only the left channel, If I change cables, then is on the right channel. If I change the input or I even disconnect all of them, the problem persists. It disappears for some time if I do a power on / off, but it comes back again after a few.

Update. The noise has started to come back again, it's happened twice in the last day. Switching it off at the back and then switiching it on again clears it up. I wonder if it's because I have it turned on all the time and it doesn't like that. I have it sitting on my amp which gets slightly warm so maybe it doesn't like that too, I'm speculating that it's some kind of heat issue. It's disappointing. If I return it under warranty I'll be left without a DAC or a headphone amp and who knows if they'll actually find the problem because I think it has to be on for a good number of hours to happen?
did you solve it? I think we ran into the same issue and I was speculating also about the heat without even seeing your post. I had on top of the dx7 a usb hub and after moving it the problems are much less frequent, but still have some time to time. But even worse, because it wasn't even that hot, I mean it was on a room at 27º and never happened before in the first 3 months I had it. I worry if it's the heat what will happen on summer.

If it's not the heat, then I can't find any other reason as I tried everything, even reflashing the firmware and changing every input/output possible and cables.

Try buying ferrite bead.

I had a similar problem with my DX3 Pro Plus it would sometimes make noise and then go fully silent, all sound just gone completely, I had to turn it off and then back on again.
I put a ferrite bead on the power cable and on the USB and that helped.

Yeah, it sounds a bit silly, but it's not silly if it worked, right? =)

Will cost you 1-2 dollars for 2 pieces.

P.S. Wainting for my Dx7 pro plus to arrive =)

Finally.

Came in on the latest firmware 1.90.
I switched from DX3 Pro Plus to it. I can't hear any difference in sound on HiFiMan Edition XS, it plays the same, as expected.
I bought it because I need XLR outputs soon, and in general it is a beautiful device, more beautiful than Dx3 Pro Plus. =D

The power cable is quite short, only 1 meter. Thought of ordering a professional audiophile one, which will improve the bass and midrange 1000 times, but the beautiful and cheap ones are still more expensive than a regular cable by 5-10 times, so I ordered a regular one :D

I think we ran into the same issue

Hi.
Yeah, I've run into a similar thing too.
Waiting for adam speakers, to see what happens.
I can't hear anything on EDITION XS, perfectly quiet.
On Truthear Nova there is noise, very audible. Does not depend on the volume level, at 0db and -90db the same.

Turning it off and on removes the noise. I don't know yet when exactly it appears, certainly not immediately.

I am experimenting, I will try to change some parameters.

The problem does not look like grounding. Nothing changes when touching the DAC. It doesn't change when I move it.
It is connected via USB, through ADuM3165. But with or without it there is no difference.

did you solve it?

I think i found it.
In dx7 pro plus settings menu find BT (bluetooth module) and turn it to OFF. Should fix problem. At least it fixed with my IEM. (48hours ok so far)

Also I changed DAC ASYNC to SYNC mode, but i don't think this is the problem. I'll try to change to ASYNC again. Then check it about two days. They i'll turn BT back ON, to check that problem will occur again.
