I was liking the idea of not getting the usual distance and obstacle problems which come with IR remotes, but if the initial delay is the price we have to pay for this, I'm not sure anymore either...
The remote doesn't have to be Bluetooth. Standby shutdown, pairing delay...
The DAC isn't that far from the listening position in most cases. My other devices with IR remotes have instant responses.

My Samsung TV in the living room has a combo remote that works even from another room, but it responds instantly, with no pairing delay.

Hello to everyone

I connected the DAC only with usb-c and it works without problems.
Should i put another power supply, e.g. linear power supply, what do i get with it, when it is still powered via usb and gets bad current..

..
New drivers are out V5.72

How do we update?

I'm over the old drivers, i didn't notice any problem.
But i have owned the dac since a few days ago

That's probably true for most cases. I like being able to control the volume from anywhere when not actively listening to music, but just playing background music. Then it's definitely helpful if no direct line of sight is needed.

As I mentioned in the Samsung TV example, the remote and TV both have IR sensors and Bluetooth connectivity. During the initial pairing, it uses an IR signal. After that, it works all the time with a Bluetooth connection, with no shutdown/pairing delays, and no line of sight between the devices. I don't know if that's too much to ask for Topping to implement the same technologies.

has anyone noticed their d50iii making clicks/pops when switching between inputs?

Do you have all of these inputs connected to some source or are you just switching between unconnected inputs?
I only have USB connected, but I can switch between unconnected inputs to check.
USB is connected to a raspberry pi, COAX to a dvd player, OPT to an OREI audio converter extractor, BT to various...

i just pulled out my d50s and it's silent when switching

I can only switch between the connected USB input and all other unconnected inputs to check. Maybe someone else can check your question with all inputs connected.

Was considering getting this DAC to expand connectivity a bit but gonna ask just to make sure

Current gear is Dali Oberon 1 + KEF Kube 12b, Aiyima A07 Max amp and Topping DX1 DAC, mostly a PC/desktop setup. What would be the best move here to expand connectivity a bit? Basically I'd like to be able to connect it to the TV (optical or HDMI?) as well as my smartphone (USB-C or bluetooth?), I'm thinking this DAC (or a similar one) would be a good pick as I can keep it connected to the PC via USB-C, keep the TV connected to DAC via optical and swap between both as needed via remote or on the DAC itself, every now and then I might use the USB-C to play stuff on my phone, and BT would be kept as backup for the TV/smartphone if ever needed. Would this work or did I miss anything? Or maybe there are more interesting options for this use case, even if still to be announced for sale? Not in a huge rush so wouldn't mind waiting a bit if so

in my experience, the remote goes to sleep too often and takes too long to wake up to not be a continual annoyance

YMMV

I absolutely loathed this thing about the DAC. It didn't stay long.

I feel this wouldn't bother me too much, usage would be like >90% on the PC via USB and I'd only swap to TV optical from 8-10pm at most on weekdays, on weekends might use it on the TV a bit more but still, as long as it doesn't take extremely long I wouldn't mind much (at least in theory) as I won't be swapping inputs very often, probably 1-2 times a day

Now that I think about it maybe it'd be better if I can find an all-in-one DAC + Amp (headphone and speakers) solution, though I'm still considering replacing just the DAC for one with better connectivity in case I can't find a viable DAC+Amp solution

EDIT: Seems like the WiiM Amp Pro might be a good option to replace my A07 Max + Topping DX1, would lose the headphone amp but I guess I could just keep the DX1, plus my SHP9500 gets loud enough connected to the PC motherboard anyway

FYI, you can plug the DX1 straight into the WiiM Amp's USB port and listen that way :)

Just updated to the newest Driver and Firmware version. I notice that now I have "CHL INV" in the menu as option 14, which can be toggle on and off. I've never seen this before. Does anyone know what it does?

Judging by the name, it likely swaps the Left and Right channel. Should be easy to assess using basic test tones.

If Left stays Left, even with CHL INV enabled, then my next best guess would be that it flips the phase.
