So some random dude on some internet forum has an anecdotal impression of what he thinks he heard?

Why is this so noteworthy?
The typical retort of many who think people who prefer analogue over digital are deluded, is that the "distortions" of analogue niceify the sound, to make it more palatable to those who can't handle the "accuracy of digital". The latter group of people, those who supposedly find the digital too truthful to take, is steadily dwindling, as they discover better components, or iterate their system to a point where the remanent distortions typical in digital replay are got rid of - this is a very encouraging trend, because they will be willing to pay the extra money for gear where the serious effort has been made to eliminate all the problem areas. And over a period of time this will trickle down to the more commonplace units - it means in the end that competent systems will become far more easy to assemble for sensible money, as more and more learn what it is actually critical to get right.

I wouldn't go so far as to say lying, but IMHO audio reviewers have a vested interest in writing evocative, escapist fantasy in much the same way as wine reviewers. It's akin to being non-sexual pornography.

A lot of these hi-fi audio products sound and look reaaaally sexyyyy...
