I looked at @sweetchaos subwoofer spreadsheet and noticed that there are no SPL figures for the new 1000-pro. Audioholics has been testing one for a while but nothing published yet. Has any member here had an opportunity to compare them ?

Somebody in my area is selling a 2 year old SVS 1000 for $300 or so, and I am wondering if it is a good deal or not since I am not sure if the warranty is transerfable. I can also get a brand new 1000 from SVS directly for $400 or the new 1000 pro for $500. Wondering if I should purchase the used 1000, or should I just wait for the 1000 pro review to come out and get the 1000 from SVS directly in case they aren't too different. I have a minidsp so I don't need the PEQ and DSP functionality.

Are you sure you got your $$ right?
SB-1000 is $400 (black ash) = returned
SB-1000 is $500 (piano gloss) = returned => deal doesnt make sense
SB-1000 Pro is $500 = new

PB-1000 is $500 = new
PB-1000 is $475 = returned
PB-1000 Pro is $600 = new

Also, here's what I wrote on reddit several days ago, when someone asked me "What makes you say the SB 1000 pro will beat the SB 2000?"

Until we see 3rd party measurements, I'm just speculating. But here's my thoughts: At 20hz, SB-1000 is only 5.6db diff from SB-2000, but SB-2000 is 7.4db different from SB-2000 Pro. At 25hz, SB-1000 is only 3db diff from SB-2000, but SB-2000 is 13.2db different from SB-2000 Pro. At 31hz, SB-1000 is only 4.4db diff from SB-2000, but SB-2000 is 12.2db different from SB-2000 Pro.

From all that, you can tell that SB-2000 Pro wins against the SB-2000 by a significant amount (7,13,12db), much more than the difference between SB-1000 and SB-2000 (5,3,4db). Which leads me to speculate that the SB-1000 Pro will beat SB-2000. Just my 2 cents... ;)

Thanks. The $400 I quoted for the SB-1000 was their outlet (hence returned price).

Given what you say, I think I'd rather wait for the SB 1000 pro tests to come out. I will also have peace of mind of having the warranty.

I wonder what the black friday sales are going to be this time by SVS. Till 2 years ago they used to sell their old 12NSD stock. Last year they sold the 2000 (in preparation for launch of the 2000 pro). Given that this year could be either the 1000 or 2000 old stock they want to clear, unless they are planning a new model next year to replace in their existing line.

Having owned the 1000 pro for a few weeks, I wouldn't look at the old 1000 unless it was a lot less.... And even then. It's really nice being able at access it's controls via BT. Setting phase is much easier and there are 3 slots for you to set 3 custom presets. You can instantly change the subs personality.

As mentioned in the previous post, the new driver is supposedly better. I have no idea how much better the new driver is compared to the old one, but it's supposed to be an improvement as is the Amp

The new subs are a bit bigger too. If you value smaller size and the performance difference isn't a big deal, then if you can score a deal (say 250 on a used 1000) it might be worth it.

I was salty that I invested in four of the sb1000 until I saw that they had to make them bigger. They are over an inch deeper. Which was already their longest dimension by far so I wouldn't be able to fit them

protip for the happy wife: Kartell Jolly side tables. These things are perfect for making your subwoofers not an eye-sore.

According to SVS overall dimension specs with grille the SB-1000 Pro is just .16" deeper (14.76" vs. 14.6") than the SB-1000 and they're both 13.5" high by 13.0" wide.

EDIT: Just noticed that without grille the SB-1000 Pro is actually rated at .1" less deep than the SB-1000 (13.9" vs. 14.0"). So it looks as if the grille is actually .26" deeper, perhaps to accommodate the updated driver.

Depending on how the subwoofers measure after room control EQ due to room-gain and your desired output levels, there may not be anything between a used non-pro and new pro subwoofer. Did you make an offer for the used non-pro?

Actually the seller wanted a lot more but is willing to go down to 300. I’m not sure that’sa great value since I can get it from svs with 5 year warranty for 399

Right. I guess it depends how much warranty remains and if it's transferable.

I wonder what the black friday sales are going to be this time by SVS.
Now we know... the Cyber Monday special on the SB-1000 Pro (Black Ash) is $49 more expensive that what the OP listed: $549, marked down from regular price of $599. Add $100 from the Piano Gloss (Black, White).
