Stereophile has no reason to fear ASR. The changing market for audio equipment and aging audiophiles are much more dangerous.Thoughts after Munich
I'm writing this column on the long flight back to New York City following High End Munich, the big hi-fi show that in regular times takes place each May. Because these are not regular times, this was the first Munich show since 2019. This show was smaller than other recent Munich shows: COVID...www.stereophile.com
I am pretty sure this is a direct comment on the ASR community.
How is that any more pathetic than what ASR members do to Stereophile in our posts.
Why is it ok for ASR but not Stereophile?
Inquiring minds want to know
Where does it lead you I wonder?Direct quotes from the article:
"Purifi's people are serious engineers, but don't make the mistake of thinking they mindlessly ally themselves with the simple-minded objectivists who populate certain online discussion forums."
"owning an Audio Precision analyzer doesn't make you an expert, and the unguided application of analytical tools can lead you far astray."
Most young people do not have the financial means of Darko. Hell, many of them cannot afford rent...HiFi is a hobby which is going to be in serious trouble in the next 10 or so years when most of its customer base (old men) die off. Although there are younger people taking up the hobby, there is not going to be enough of them to stave off a drastic change in the fortunes of high end audio companies. HiFi just isn't all that compelling a hobby to the average person today.
With a falloff of the hobby, Stereophile and its ilk are doomed.
During the 60s and 70s when HiFi was a major hobby, younger people were willing to spend a substantial amount of money on their stereo rigs. There was easily a critical mass large enough to keep the hobby going and healthy for decades. As you note, many younger people today have more pressing things to spend their money on, and a stereo isn't one of them. Most young people do not have the financial means of Darko. Hell, many of them cannot afford rent...
Yeah, but did you notice all the wiring on the telescope? It's all Cardas. It was those kind (simple-minded objectivists) who put the new James Webb telescope up there in its stable position.
You’d be surprised where many throw their cash. I know quite a few in their early 20’s spending over $2k on a custom keyboard, such as the Keycult offerings. Most young people do not have the financial means of Darko. Hell, many of them cannot afford rent...
I was gonna say Nordost.Yeah, but did you notice all the wiring on the telescope? It's all Cardas.
For the case of Stereophile, it will not be an Acuphase. You’d be surprised where many throw their cash. I know quite a few in their early 20’s spending over $2k on a custom keyboard, such as the Keycult offerings.

I bet the scientists can't wait until it burns in properly.
Just reassures that you are making waves and poking the bear’s where it hurts. The more they cry foul the closer to the truth we get. We are Objectivists and we seek the scientific truth. This should only alarm those who seek to bury us in advertising and Bull S_it pseudoscience word salad. Truthful Product Engineers should embrace Objective validation of their designs. Not run from it like it’s some kind of black magic trickery. If their specs are real and valid, they have zero to fear from us.I think anytime they mention "measurements" and "audio precision" that is good for us. So you go Jim Austin!!!
