But it's nothing new, many manufacturers have had such lids over the last 35 years.
Everything just copied...

Received the SMSL T2 today. The build quality and audio are absolutely superb. I've only ever heard this from the most expensive Accuphase CD players.

No, the point is that is has "no sound" unless you connect it to a DAC.

Perfect CD transports can be had for much less even from SMSL. Can't see spending that much unless you really like the looks of the device. Features wise it is nothing special.
