2P3 AM radio built from modern Tecsun kit
It seems that in the mid-1960s People's Republic of China, the original 2P3 was quite the thing to have, but was actually not sold as a kit or finished product, but as an empty housing! Have seen photos of vintage originals on
www.crystalradio.cn, and sure enough, the innards look to be unique to the builder. But among other advantages of Tecsun's kit is the use of modern audio amplifier IC rather than crappy transformer-coupled amplifier, so good clarity and not as much distortion as typical vintage transistor radio. And I'm sure that the substantial ferrite rod antenna doesn't hurt the performance either.
