This is my first post here but am not new, maybe to this forum but not audio. I used to consider myself an audio snob but after perusing audio related forum(s) (not this one naturally) in 2020 I no longer feel that way. My audio playback "heyday" took place before forums existed. Ok, before the internet existed too. I was actually looking for thoughts on the Wharfedale Evo 4.2. Let me ask, why is it we hate them here? Im not pushing for them as I have no dog in this fight. I dont sell speakers, know anyone personally that buys them either or really care. I actually bought two sets of the Focal 906 for the purpose I need them today, side and rear surround speakers. They seem ok and cheap enough. I do have to say that the Wharfedale (Bharfedale? trying to fit in? lol) did catch my eye after pulling the trigger on the Focal today. They have a pleasant appearance, are inexpensive and I do like the three way design too. I was actually looking for a reason to not like my purchase earlier and opinions on how these could have been better. In doing so I have read this thread and am now curious on why these Evo 4.2 are disliked so much. Are they really that bad? Subjective approval by some who own them or have heard them is not necessarily a bad thing either, that gets pushed aside a lot of the time. I also am not involved in politics, who likes this, who hates that, who sells those etc either. Thanks to a review here on the Marantz I did not buy it and went with Emotiva instead. So im not trying to go against the grain here but curious.
Besides this above, if I am not run out of here already, should I like the Focal 906 as side and rear speakers?
Just added this, if my amp is twice the recommended max power of the Focal should I be worried?
