It is very much a question how good these modes are controlled. Even Purifi is pushing for bigger drivers now. For their current 2-way, Genelec uses a very innert coated paper cone with high Mms. As Anselm Goertz wrote, they sound fantastic and measure so. This is strictly a result of precisely a low crossed tweeter and a high crossed mid-woofer.
Yes, like I said - all other things save for cone size being equal, a larger driver will have its breakup modes lower than a smaller one. Some are better controlled than others. Doped paper is particularly good about it.

Also - which two way Genelec are you talking about? The S360? That demonstrates exactly what I'm talking about. Low crossover + horn loaded compression driver tweeter is the way around doing 3 way designs if you want a large bass driver without serious directivity (and distortion vs breakup) consequences.

It was the example that I had referenced in my original posting, and: yes.

I've been hoping Neumann would release something like this for years! I've been using the KH120 for over 10 years and have wanted something a little bigger over the past couple years.

and I agree, compared to upmost Hifi loudspeakers I would also take the S360.

I have the possible woofer of S360A running in a provisional chipboard box, and it sounds soo good playing up to 1200 Hz:

(Yes, I know, this iPhone video proofs nothing.)

Every time the thread has a new post in it I'm hoping it's a full Neumann press release complete with measurement data... o_O

To be honest, being a Neumann, perfect linearity and great dispersion are already a fact. I would be very surprised if they were not up to their standard.

I think only f3 from the new 7" woofer is the news here. High 30s, maybe 38 Hz? Let's see. :)

From their website.

Model - woofer diameter - f3
KH80 - 100 mm (4") - 57 Hz
KH120 - 130 mm (5.25") - 52 Hz
KH150 - 180 mm (7") - 40 Hz? <== Speculation
KH310 - 210 mm (8.25") - 34 Hz

Not high 30s then. :(

I don't see the ratio in asking for such a low f3-point. With an assisted alignment (6th order slope below fb) like the JBL708p, you have an f10 of 35 with f3 of 43. This means upper registers of sub bass is being played with some authority, and sub bass in general is being played. For such a small two-way, this is very good and you will rarely miss something in music. If you need even more atmosphere, get a sub.

Nice but you won't have the exact woofer there because the design is proprietary to Genelec S360 which I designed. :)

If I tell you, I'd have to kill you. :)
Which one would you choose for home use, with no room treatment
1237A, S360 or 8361?
Can you describe the differences between them? GENELEC is a bit vague about the differences because they all cost about the same and it's hard to choose

Find a dealer and go and have a listen, that is the best advice I can give you.

ps. This is not a Genelec thread.

As you already mentioned this is a Neumann thread, so back to topic! What will Genelec´s response to the KH150? ;)
Your 8040B still have 90W class AB so maybe an updated? The 8340A got already 150W class C and are more compareable to the KH150 due to GLM. So maybe the pricing will be rechecked or a new line? :)

Neumann published also a picture of the KH150 on facebook -> https://www.facebook.com/neumann/
