Genelec should wake up and and update their 8000 series (which is16 years old now)Becaue Neumann is is starting to bypass them
I guess a separate thread would be fine to discuss the future of Genelec product portfolio or whishes to Genelec (e.g. make it sense to let the 8000 and G series live at all?).
BTW, as far as I know the current 8030C is only 6 years old (8030B end of production was in year 2017).

“Revolutionary” is a word that should be used only once! Or just avoid…

So they did keep the same driver diameter after all. Back when I used to listen really loud, I complained about the port air blasting through my neck/face. I’m afraid that this particular “problem” is going to be worse with this new model. :p
Well port noise was an issue with the old KH120 even though they spend a lot of thought to the design of the ports (notched and foam application). In 2m distance it was ok..

Add. price information of the non AES version:

Interesting. I just ordered a pair of new KH120s at 600 USD per speaker. I am wondering if I was given a discount because they might drop prices.

While I would rather the II with DSP, at these prices, I am happy with my choice. At 600 a speaker, I was already pushing my budget.
Great times to get a great speaker dirt cheap!

I haven’t had any port noise issues with my KH120’s but I’m monitoring at around 1.5m and don’t crank them loud. It will be interesting to see if Neumann has developed the ports to be able to handle the extra bass and higher spl the mkII puts out!

Also the cabinet is not aluminum, so it must have some effect also

KH 120 is already superior to 8030C.
Don't agree although I used to happily own a pair of KH120, they are both state of the art in their price and size class with slightly different advantages and disadvantages, you can't go wrong with either.

Maybe I should ask Neumann to get payed as their marketing employee? :D

I don´t think they have a budget for such a position... ;-)

I predict the changes will be audible only when comparing side-by-side. Besides, with the KH 750 you get almost all the DSP advantages; at least the ones that MA1 offers. 20% off is a good deal, imo, and wouldn’t sweat it considering these will be double after tax.

I’m just seeing the product page. 44vs53Hz extension is F1-Ab1: a minor third lower and some flattening overall. Distortion and directivity can’t be extremely different. Of course they need to talk it up to sell it.

I guess a minor third in the bass could be noticeable assuming room resonances don’t distort it.

My point is don’t worry about these mk2s if you already have mk1s unless you need digital input or standalone DSP, imo.

I have two pairs of KH120's in my studio. For certain specific purposes they are fine. I think that the II's will be a nice improvement but will not move them into a different category. That is what the KH150's are for.........

I don’t have the technical knowledge to understand the measurement charts so could someone tell me how the new KH120II compare to the original KH150 and the older KH120 please?
