Looks like a pretty solid monitor
What are you guy's thoughts?

Phil Ward reviewed/measured their ‘8’.

I'd be interested to see a proper spin.

If only every manufacturer had their products properly measured.

Console reflections will typically give you a boost centred around 200hz.

It’s possible that the 200hz dip on the MUM8 is either there to reduce desk reflections, or it’s possible that the monitor was tuned by ear in a studio and they have overcompensated for the console bounce they were hearing?

Given the speakers have user programable DSP, I’d say you could get a lot better response out of these than the standard tunings.

I thought the review was pretty positive? And the flaws easily corrected?

I had wondered about these drivers before the mum was a thing along with a couple of other options, though I also like the Volt drivers being UK based.

IMO there shouldn't be any flaws to correct in a 10k per pair speaker. Kii Three and D&D 8C spring to mind for this price and come without any flaws. This to me feels like a rushed DIY job using high-end components but no real care with regards to component integration. Of course this is all conjecture as I haven't heard them.

I never saw negative review in SOS magazine especially of domestic product, you can really see they tried hard to be positive but when they say it needs some work it's really a huge red flag. If the graph they provided were in usual 50dB vertical scale it would be considered broken by modern studio monitors standards

They can keep their tuning but also should put in flat profiles for different setups including desk or free standing in room etc.

Doesn’t really work like that for eq to be effective the speaker’s off axis response has to be smooth.

The region being talked about radiates more or less omnidirectionally. Directivity doesn't play in yet.

25x the price and only slightly better than the Kali LP-6v2. SAD!
These will play a lot cleaner at high levels. The LP6 woofer hits 1% of H3 in the low midrange at 86 dB already, and I can't imagine that's not audible on a sine.

I am in no way surprised if a new cottage industry outfit can't hit the same degree of polish of its long-established competition right away. If all they need is better DSP tuning out of the box, they're at least 95% there. It may not look too good, but anything that can be fixed in software by the user isn't a big problem. Kali needed quite a while to sort out the hiss in their first-generation products, and that most probably took some actual hardware redesign.

Okay, I understand why they didn't see the waviness around 5-6k: They measure at 1/6 octave smoothing. That wouldn't show up.
MUM-10 measurements are released today. We do not measure at 1/6, that wouldn’t benefit design. We measure at 1/48, and then display the website graphs at 1/6. There have been significant upgrades to our measuring and design ability since the MUM-8, which will now be benefitting from our DSP upgrades to bring it in line with how well the MUM-10 measures - +/- 1dB from 50Hz to 20KHz. Extension is down to 22Hz but need to splice the measurements to show that in a graph. Thought id mention it before one of the forum folk ignores the image caption on the email…

where at?
In a fun turn of events we've been so overwhelmed by the number of sales of MUM-10 that we are quite behind on our schedule. As soon as our new website page with the MUM-10 is up, you'll be able to see it all. Might not be today after all, as I'm so behind, but we WILL be sharing them. Don't worry.
