Fabulous photo of Martikainen ... and how great to have met and conversed.

I can understand people not liking the design language I suppose, especially as a recovery from work-related PTSD. And as I noted above, very form follows function. But they did engage a designer—Harri Koskinen—not just a raft of engineers, to get there. I think he did a great job.

Yes, I have to admit the Genelec are more interesting and attractive than other more drab looking pro gear.

Essentially I agree with you.
BTW, on this thread, have we discussed about Spendor's latest Classic series, especially Classic 200 and 200Ti?

I like various speaker designs, but there is something I still find attractive and comforting about the looks and dimensions of the Classic Spendor line, including the 200.
I've always wanted to hear the 200! Just to hear that much classic Spendorness!

Couldn't help myself, had to "try" the 1238a in the room, as if.... The black screwheads and mounting holes are a bit much. Actually, I've become sensitive to screwheads from this thread !

If my voiced distaste for screw heads in this thread was part of that, I'm sorry :)

But, egad, that above white speakers are screw-head nightmares for me!

Well, you're right, they can look very busy :(.

The 200Ti is currently £23,500.00.

There's a lot of competition at that price.

The prices of those hyped marketed "BBC school Made in the UK" companies have become plain silly, for example a pair of the recently released Rogers LS3/5a costs 4600€ here.

I feel Rogers LS3/5a 65th Anniversary Edition (2-way, sealed cabinet, 13.8 cm woofer-midrange, 70 Hz -20 kHz +/- 3 dB, small 188Wx304Hx185D mm, only 5.12 kg) is not comparable with big Spendor 200 Ti (3-way, double 31 cm woofer, 20 Hz - 25 kHz, 89 dB, 368Wx1117 H x513D mm, 55 kg!). They are definitely in different layers of SP hierarchy.

I mentioned those as an example as I find both overpriced in their respective size classes.

Almost $10,000 in drivers alone, better be goooood! :)

-actually over 10k if those are the latest L16RNX that sell for ~$200 each.

Very good or best, who knows. In any case, they can be acquired at a fraction of the price of, for example, Wilsons, EgglestonWorks or Børresen.
That's because they can be bought directly without expensive intermediaries.
Yes, the drivers are more expensive than in other most other speakers, and you also get super build quality. Well damped and damped cabinet free of disturbing resonances. Waterproof MDF and real walnut veneer or veneer quality as desired.

Do i see cardoid slots on the sides for the midranges :) that would be a first for a high end speaker a truly passive cardoid speaker

It's not a commercial product, but DIY.

It is a matter of definition; the speakers are made to order by a professional furniture maker. Audiophile engineers have assisted in the development and pre-calibrated the Hypex DSP/eq settings. The DSP settings can be tailored to customers listening room.
(Now the carpenter has to get his a--- in gear and get himself a proper website).
