Greetings To All,

The Genelecs are almost here, the Studio is on its way. Am not in a hurry. The listening room has HIGH ceiling and 3300 cu ft (93.4 cu m) of space.

Bare System: PC/Lynx AES16e > D-sub/XLR > Studio > XLR > Genelec.

The Question: IF…IF, down the road, I wished to integrate two Rythmik L12 Audio XLR3 subs into this system, how would I physically connect them, in an effective and elegant manner, given that the Rythmiks CANNOT be daisy-chained?

I realize that the better option would be to purchase Genelec subs, but I’d have to sell stuff to do that, which is a possible but onerous chore :)

Any/all help is welcome.

Cheers

Unless I'm missing something the subs don't accept digital inputs and you don't have any analog outputs. So you'd need a DAC or a different MiniDSP etc.

You'll have to make sure that whatever DAC you buy for the subs, does not reclock the SPDIF signal to avoid clock drift.

How does one determine if a DAC reclocks the SPDIF signal?

With that kind of money spend, I would also take genelec subs.

Sell stuff.

@Sacha You are quite right...duh. Don't know where my head's at.
I CAN easily follow @staticV3's good suggestion, given that my Antelope Zodiac Gold has connectivity to spare.

The main reason I tried to keep solely to the Studio is to avoid using the miniDSP 2 x 4HD, which I KNOW is the way to go in attempting to integrate "foreign" subs into Genelec's domain, but which apparently is a major inconvenience to have to deal with.

Of course, @Joachim Herbert is quite correct. And I don't mind selling equipment, per se, rather it's a question of the local market - of which there isn't any! This is a very remote location, with no neighbors, nearest town is 30 mi distant, so selling gets to be rather trying - and NOTHING I'm familiar with when doing it online.
However, comes a time to bite bullets, I guess...

Thank You, ALL :)

One could take a few measurements, each an hour apart and look at phase and impulse response.

Consistent performance there means that the external DAC likely uses the SHD's clock.
