Let's share diagrams (and photos) of our total physical audio system and the whole signal path, with a few words and/or links

I’ve spent a good deal of time trying to minimize the number of pieces. My dream system would be a streaming preamp wirelessly connected to active speakers. Or just streaming active speakers that have an adequate list of services.
I have family, so simplicity is a virtue.

That's never really been an attractive option to me.
I've always enjoyed the versatility and available options of a system composed of separate components.
Same with a computer, give me a full tower with separate monitor, etc; over a laptop or tiny not-so-smart phone that I can work on and upgrade to my personal tastes. I've get the "family" thing but there must also always be room for me to explore my passions and interests.
YMMV

I remember thinking back when you first posted your stuff/pages what an interesting but time intrusive job that must have been.

I have been always much appreciating your kind attention and participation on my multichannel project thread which I started April 9, 2020.;)

After having almost four and half years of my step-by-step mountain-climbing exploration shared throughout the thread, I assume now I could have reached one of my dream summits of DSP-based multichannel fully active stereo audio system as shared in-detail in my recent post #931 on my project thread.

Consequently, I believe now it would be a good timing to start this new thread sharing my present/latest setup using only a few diagrams and photos, and also to invite many ASR friends sharing their diagrams and photos of audio setup; one diagram or one photo would worth more than 1,000 words, and I am (and I believe "we are") very much looking forward to seeing other people's whole audio system at-a-glance with their diagrams/photos!

Even though I believe you are already aware of, let me remind you that I have Hyperlink Index Post here and here for my multichannel project thread.

Furthermore, I have been being always also very pleased that I could start and maintain several other threads during the past four years all of them are based-on and/or derived-from my multichannel project thread.

I've been able to get some real work done with

With only a little practice you can work real fast with it. I save the diagrams as XML files downloaded via the web browser. And I export the final image with either print to PDF or screen shot like this.drawio

Prior to starting my multichannel audio project thread, I too have tested and evaluated many other flowchart-drawing-type software tools, but at the end, I have decided sticking to Microsoft PowerPoint; once you can draw a (rather complex) slide within PowerPoint, then it is quite easy and quick to further "develop" or "revise" the slide, I believe.

In any way, you would please proceed using the drawing software you pointed above, and I am (we are) looking forward to seeing your diagram(s) of your whole audio setup, hopefully very soon.;)

I did similar diagram some months ago, looking on how to simplify my setup (and also how to integrate the sub in the HiFi setup). In the end, I didn't change anything; I've just tried to use the Denon AVR as Hifi preamp, but didn't like it. Here it is.

Where in the hell do you plug in all that gear? (Welcome to ASR!)

I'm happy to be of assistance any time I can.
Having been in the multich world since the early 1970s Quad days, I appreciate all the work and passion you've put into your system. Hope it's given back as much as you put it. ;)

My system is linked in my sig. I don't have a way to get a picture of the whole system at once, not enough distance in the room for my camera. Attached a PDF from when I was laying out the speaker positions and such, with pictures of the end result. The layout diagrams are very busy (all layers on) showing speakers, room treatment (panels on walls and ceiling), listening position (couch), storage, etc. It does not show the minisplit HVAC unit on the right (outside) wall; it is the big white thing on the wall in the pictures.

Thx!
Next I have a raspberry pi with a node server that interacts with a logitech harmony hub (for IR control) and a zigbee bridge (for some smart plugs to switch on/off the Atoll amps) to control everything through a single web page with a few buttons. So quite easy in the end. But that's another topic...

Mine is simple. So simple I could draw it on the back of an envelope.

Regrettably I'd already used the back for something else, so I've drawn it on the front instead:

Since I don't really know what I'm doing I think keeping it simple means less chance to screw it up.

Not really an 'ASR' system - pointlessly expensive CD transport, Class A power amp, no subwoofers.

But I do have PEQ.

DrOOL! That Sony TA-E1000ESD preamp is such a nice model. I was selling those when they where a current model. :D Very cool piece of gear...

I love it. One of the best things I've ever bought. You can adjust pretty much everything - in 0.1dB steps.
It's not only so capable it's beautiful from the machined front panel to the display and the colors and sensible arrangement to the controls and switches. :D A classic piece of gear. Very collectable.

Maybe I'll post a photo later. The source (usually) is a Sony BDP BX 57 Blu Ray player, about ten years old. Every now and then I'll stream something via the Acer Aspire 5 laptop. They both are connected to a Topping E30 DAC, the laptop via USB, the Blu Ray player via optical Toslink. The Topping E30 is connected to a Topping L30 headphone amp/preamp. I mostly use the L30 as a preamp. It makes setting volume levels much easier. The L30 is connected to an old (probably at least 15 year old) Yamaha RX-V461 surround sound receiver. I'm only using two channels of amplification, with a Sonus "Son of Sub" powered subwoofer connected to the line-out subwoofer connection. The output of the Yamaha is connected to a pair of Infinity Primus 250 floorstanding loudspeakers. The are also two other input connections to the Yamaha, one being a 1/8" stereo to an RCA pair of plugs via a meter's worth of interconnect to hook up a DAP. The other is an RCA pair of interconnects to hook up the analog output of the Sony to the amp. It can play back the DSD layers of SACDs (the Blu Ray player is SACD capable) but doesn't sound as good as playing the PCM layers of the hybrid SACDs. I've got three Blu Ray audio discs, but navigating the tracks is currently impossible with those. For some reason I don't understand, the E30 doesn't have any issues playing the few single layer SACDs in my collection. I've also got a bunch of headphones I rarely use. All of this is in a small room so there's no reason to crank the system. I play a lot of classical titles, including a lot of big orchestral pieces, and rarely have issues with distortion.

So, let me start this new thread by sharing my diagrams and photos as follows; if you would be interested, please visit my post here #931 on my project thread for the details.
I respect and totally admire the effort in a setup like this, but it's the reason I now have an AVR and a pair of good floorstanders. No diagram needed :)

Nice room there @DonH56
Thanks! It is much smaller than originally planned (added a bedroom for our younger boy, now long gone, that cut it by about 1/3 and trashed my carefully-primed dimensions).
