Merci. I had the suspect but we saw few of them. Since I have exchanged letters and mails with Greg Timbers, wanted to buy them a) because I like them B) as an homage to Greg. Not true. They were imported to Europe a few years ago. This is why i was able to buy them used in France.
A fault of JBL (not only but of all manufacturers) not bracing, not treating inside walls of cabinets, not using de silicon coupling baskets, some kind of 30 dollars solution that would help immesurabily.Unfortunately not being produced anymore, and never imported in Europe.
Idk, but other than the 1k hz resonance in the 530 it measured about as well as anything .. It's gonna be tough to duplicate even within the family.... The 530 imo is highly underrated if tonality is the main concern...Even within the same family, the 590 has a significantly lower preference score than the 530. Does anyone have an idea if the 570 and 580 more closely follow the 530 or 590's measurements?

With the 520c as compromised as it is based on the measurements, what is everyone using as a center channel with their 590's?
How bad really is the 520c and since it's only usually used for center channel dialog and whatever background noise and music make it to the center, is it really a big deal? With the 520c as compromised as it is based on the measurements, what is everyone using as a center channel with their 590's?
The center plays a LOT of the movie you hear so to me it is crucial and a shame that many times is the less competent speaker in a systemHow bad really is the 520c and since it's only usually used for center channel dialog and whatever background noise and music make it to the center, is it really a big deal?
I actually don't even use a center channel speaker at all for most movies. Seems to work great with the 4349s on either side, TV speakers off, and no sub needed. I guess in typical "surround" situations maybe the center does do a lot of the work. The center plays a LOT of the movie you hear so to me it is crucial and a shame that many times is the less competent speaker in a system
a GOOD center speaker can make a BIG difference but of course, to each its own.I actually don't even use a center channel speaker at all for most movies. So it seems the Monoprice Monolith THX-365C would be the best center for the 590's if I don't want to spend Revel money (and seeing that the Infinity isn't really available anymore)
Yeah I liked the thx and indeed a shame the infinity is not aroundSo it seems the Monoprice Monolith THX-365C would be the best center for the 590's if I don't want to spend Revel money (and seeing that the Infinity isn't really available anymore)
it's not perfect, but I use a 590 on it's side. It's MUCH better than a 520c or 570 on it's side (tried it). With the 520c as compromised as it is based on the measurements, what is everyone using as a center channel with their 590's?
Yeah the issue with that is the very limited dispersion but it surely sounds better than the 520it's not perfect, but I use a 590 on it's side. It's MUCH better than a 520c or 570 on it's side (tried it).
I have the 570's and really love them (easy to move!). Basically a 530 with an additional 5.25" driver in a rigid 35" tall box. Hard to beat in 2.0/2.1 nearfield listening. Bought them from Harman for $360/pr, absolute steal.Even within the same family, the 590 has a significantly lower preference score than the 530. Does anyone have an idea if the 570 and 580 more closely follow the 530 or 590's measurements?
I most, if not all movies the center is a dedicated channel w/ its own content and it is a huge portion of the sound of a multichannel set up. Are you downmxing a 5.1 input to a 2.0 set up?I actually don't even use a center channel speaker at all for most movies.
