I don't think loud is loud enough

Well probably most folks around here would agree that 84 dB is too loud for them but that's the 0 point for equal loudness normalization. For me with speakers the 86 dB programe is enough for a party or short listening session tho had a habit going over to 96 dB or so programe with hedaphones when I whose young. Usually start about 74 and end about 80 increasing 1.5 dB step every 30~60 minutes on long listening sessions.

If your amplifier's output can't be measured in horsepower, then its just simply not loud enough. Automotive stuff goes up to about 16-18 HP per amplifier. I figure a large rack of those and a wall of 36" subs should be good for a more reasonable 194 dB. 2nd harmonic distortion might be a bit high, though. But hey, its m u s i c a l distortion, right? ;)

my ideia was to take my SPL-meter to the pre-Carnival that was happening in my neighborhood this thursday, but I totaly forgot

If the mid,highrange is to loud, you need better subs to compensate :)
