Based on everything I've read, the difference in sound between the 8030c and its SAM brother the 8330a is almost nothing. Some reviews even put the 8030c above the 8330a.

The 8030c are $1400 and its pompous brother the 8331a are $5000

That's a huge price difference, especially if you didn't even pay full price for the 8030c. I paid $900 for barely used ones.

Even on the used market, the 8331a don't really drop much in price.

Are they really $3600 better?

8030c serve me well but that constant need of wanting to have the best, and the ones are the best speakers in Genelec and probably one of the best speakers in the world

At least 3 better, but not 4. /s

I paid $2900 USD new for a pair(big sale last Christmas in Canada), I don't think I would pay $5000 USD. But that's largely a matter of how much $X means to you personally.

To me one of the big advantages is that they sound the same at all listening elevations, the 8030C can't do that. And it always bugs me when speakers change their sound as you stand up, sit down, or lean back, etc. Since I'm sitting very close my speakers at my desktop (they're only about 0.6m away) it's easy for the vertical angle to change a lot.

The reason the Ones are expensive is because a lot more R&D and complexity of production goes into them, that's all.

$2900 on sale? wut on what website that seems inconceivable , not even on the used market is that low

Have you had the 8030c to compare tho? thats the real question

It was Studio Economik. I reported it here as it was happening.

I've only listened to the 8000-series in a pro audio retail shop, not at home in the same room, so can't give you that perspective. But to me the 8030Cs didn't have the same midrange clarity that the Ones have. Other than that I didn't think there was a huge difference at that size. GLM is very useful too, not to be discounted.

But if I didn't care about vertical dispersion and I was looking at MSRP, I would be pretty happy with 8030Cs for a desktop setup.

is $3399 is that for 2 speakers? how is it so much cheaper than anywhere else?

I wonder how much it would cost to ship to USA? Do they even? it seems USA always gets screwed when it comes to Genelec, we have to pay top dollar

I also noticed Genelec BLOCKS any form of way to purchase Genelec speakers abroad and have them shipped to USA such as Thomman where they are sold cheaper for Europeans

Ah is canadian dollars lol which is $2500 each now way jose

I wonder if they will do a sale this christmas

how wonderful

It's for 1. It was $1875 last year, * 2 * 1.05(tax) = $3937.5 / 1.37(exchange rate) = $2874 USD.

Currently they're about the same price as in the US, though you can probably get a 10% discount or something by talking to them. Unless you really need them ASAP I would just keep an eye out for sales.

These are studio speakers and between hollywood and the music industry, the US is the country that has the biggest budgets for studio gear. So it makes sense.

I'm in Canada, so can't help you on shipping to the US. Other than to say that I know others in the US have bought from them before.

I don't need them right now

I'm not paying 5k + tax for them when they sell for $3900 in europe

I'm considering used but even used, people want almost 5k no way jose

For now I just stick with my 8030c

Where in Europe can you buy them for that price? As far as I can see, prices are the same everywhere, about 5k....

That's US site and price.

It's not lol that's $1939

and in USA websites is $2500

Thomman is a UK company. It is simply listed on US dollars as they have that option for money, but if you try to order, it says Genelec does not allow this item to be shipped to your country.

Genelec all over europe is considerably cheaper than USA

That's what they say, USA. You're wrong about European prices. My price is equiv. of USD5.120.

Why would it be listed in US prices for less when it can't even be sold to US resident?

They trolling hard with that

Thomann is German
Thoman has mulitple sites, for different nations.
Here's Germany, .de.

Norway

UK

They say .com is USA.

I meant they're physically located in Germany and everything Is shipped from there if I'm not mistaken, regardless of different websites
