Hdmi to lightning adapter cable

I’ve recently found out that using a hdmi to lightning adapter cable i can stream music directly from my iphone by connecting the cable into one of the hdmi ports on the back of the receiver.
My question is by using this method am i getting full hi res lossless audio? Also in this method which dac is being used for conversion iphone’s or receiver’s?

The receiver's DAC is used for D->A conversion.

Whether you're getting the optimal sound quality, I don't know. I'd have to test it.

In general though, I'd place more trust in a Lightning to Optical converter.
