I use this HDMI audio extractor with a Sony UBP X-800 M2 UHD BD player,

Hi Kiko1974

The posts refer to many devices I am not sure which is your HDMI extractor. Can you please write manufacturer and model ?

I have a Sony UBP X-700, a Topping E50 DAC and a stereo (not multichannel) amplifier.
Do you think this extractor is good to listen to pure DSD (not converted to PCM) ?

Hello: I hope you're doing fine.
The Chinese HDMI audio extractor we all are talking about Will work fine with your Sony BD player and Topping DAC. But beware, as your Topping DAC doesn't have an I²S input you need to get the version of this HDMI audio extractor that outputs DSD over PCM (DoP) via its digital coaxial output or Toslink. There are two different versions of It, the cheaper one only does DSD over I²S, both the S/PDIF and Toslink only output PCM, this version costs around 80/85 Euros. This is not the one for your as you want your DAC to convert native DSD.
There's a second version of this box, beware, both LOOK IDENTICAL, that in addition to output DSD (and PCM) vía I²S, It also outputs DSD by its S/PDIF and Toslink as DoP. You need to be very careful on the item's description that It clearly states DoP via its S/PDIF and Toslink outputs. This version of the HDMI audio extractor costs around 130 Euros.
With a Sony BD player you'll need an external power supply as its HDMI port won't provide enough current to power It. I recommend you to get a linear power supply instead of a lesser and cheaper switch de one. The one I own, that I got on last November from AliExpress works great and cost me around 55 Euros. It makes the HDMI audio extractor works better, and it's built like a tank.

I read somewhere, I don't remember the website, maybe It was here,

that on the circuit board, there's a plate or a connection, something like this. If one soldered on this plate, just a small point of soldering copper, and by doing this, the channels on the I²S connector were reversed.
I own an SMSL D400 PRO D/A converter that has an I²S HDMI input. On the set Up menú there are two options to invert audio channels on the I²S input, a general purpuse one, that only affects PCM audio, and a second one for DSD. The one intented to invert DSD channels doesn't work. SMSL has released a firmware update for this DAC, but me and many other despite following the provided instructions, we have been unable to do the update that would fix that I²S issue when playing DSD.
The HDMI audio extractor that outputs DSD over I²S only has the right pin configuration for my SMSL D 400 PRO, the one that outputs DSD over I²S and S/PDIF as DoP has the wrong, for my SMSL DAC, I²S pin configuration so channels are inverted.
I find the I²S plus S/PDIF DSD output box to be of better quality, It sounds better. Both HDMI audio extractor look identical by the outside, but have different IC's inside, thought they share some of the components.
I'd like to be able to get the workaround to invert I²S channels on the I²S plus S/PDIF
