The "Black" in black Vinyl is "Carbon Black" the same material that makes Automotive Tires Black!
It's there to improve the wear factor to increase the lifetime and performance of the tire.
Who would have thought Carbon in tires is good for traction on Asphalt...?

I'd love to explain how PVC is made, But that's getting off the topic.
Carbon is added as colorant and Filler but it also makes plastic, kick butt in the needed Characteristics for An Analog LP!
In the mean time I have owned several hundred colored, pictured, Laser burned LP records.
The sound goes from one of those "Best Value" LP's for 99 cents.
And goes WAY... Down hill from there.
Reminds me of the old Blue Rubber Tread tires Yeah. They didn't last......
Blade runner Black Lotus is a green color that flourescences under black light. Cool.
The fidelity is superb, Amazing audio engineering, Lots of great solid well defined bass and the mid, HF balance and Imaging is eye watering!
But there is a scritch... scritch... scritch... scritch... through the entire LP. So now I understand why it was 11.99 cents off ebay!
My theory is that carbon black's Hexagonal shape act's like Nano fiber's where the sharp edge atomic structure interlocks with the PVC's "Long Chain Polymers".
I found that rabbit hole in an 2010 issue of "Physics Today". Love that magazine. Molucules R US...
