Extreme Snake Oil

He just released a new video. Kinda pitiful, always seem to beg for engagement & subscriptions, as well pimp his website... Anyhow...

What I find most amazing about Jay and his lab is his ability to seem so confident in the nonsense he's spewing. Which always make me wonder what % of people are deluded vs lying charlatans.

His latest claim is that you just can't do A/B comparisons, because cables need to 'live' with the system and their sound will change overtime... I doubt we'll ever see anywhere anything that resembles a DBT or even a BT... Either he's too far gone or his paycheck depends on the result, so either way he's not going to risk it.
Well from what I have read in the previous posts, he stated a BT would be coming up. If it never happens he chickened out and that is 100% normal for these idiots. Amir and others like JJ know that historically, they usually almost always chicken out as they know deep down they are peddling BS. Pure unadulterated refined BS. All of the long term members know this is my hot button. These whack jobs talking about testing and then never doing it. They know they are liars and scammers and will never attend a real test, ever. Now my comments are only from prior posts. If he didn't say he was going to test them, than that is different. Then instead of a liar he is only a scammer. Oh, I think I might have been triggered!!! ;)

There is a desperation vibe about his channel that I find some cringe worthy. That said I still watch his videos sometimes because I enjoy seeing the high-end equipment.

Yeah, that’s how woo and pseudoscience claims go. Always adding ad hoc reasoning to make a claim unfalsifiable. It’s like the spiritualists who say that the spirits “ won’t give us any information or paranormal displays if they sense a sceptic is in the room.”

Well from what I have read in the previous posts, he stated a BT would be coming up.

And you can pretty much guarantee it will be a poorly run blind test if he does it. Most of these folks just don’t have a clue. There’s already a video of proudly passing a “ blind test.” What did it consist of? He went to a manufacturers place, and listen to an entire system behind an acoustic screen, and then had to guess about the pieces of equipment being used. He guess they were using some of their lower tier gear, they lifted the screen, and he generally turned out to be right.
And that’s it.

Take that science dudes!

And so the lunacy continues...

Don't know which is worse..$US 18k for a PC or $U3.3 for a cable noting that the price is for either a USB cable or an ethernet cable.

So if you want both its $US6.6k!!!!

'Oven Controlled'?
yeah.... from what I understand the clocks have a little heating element that keeps the clock at a specific temperature... the clock and elements are encased together.

A constant temp means the clocks dont drift.

Given the clocks arent near large sources of heat, their temp is sufficiently high to not be affected by ambient temps elsewhere in the chassis

Here is the back.

So for your $US18K, you get a Network switch, a PC with ssd storage, some Linux OS/playback software with streaming service support (TIDAL & Qobuz), local file playback and a USB port to connect to your DAC.

So basically what you can get for a few hundred dollars and some free software like LMS (switch exempted).

I am not sure why you want a switch inside a server?

Also, given USB DAC's are async now, a fancy clock in the server makes no sense as its a slave to the DAC....unless its for the switch which is just as illogical.

I was expecting at least some spdif outputs for that price.

Don your pointy tinfoil hats, kids, and get ready for the mother of all snake oil videos ...

Gotta get myself a few glittery cow pies to put on my own equipment! ROFL!!!!
Just watched the first minute, but this guy has so much snake-oil crap in his room it might actually just make a real difference, given that it's all acting like diffusers (room treatment).

I agree with your posts ,except for the use of "idiots". These people are not: They know what they're doing; When one of these B.S. "products" achieves some notoriety, the returns and profits are substantial.
Let's take the example of those "Grouding Boxes". I mean, really how much does a wooden box and some dirt cost? By the way, this is an accurate description of one of the EntreQ boxes priced at $3400. One of these was reviewed by @Amir.

The strange thing is that there exist such special mixture for electrical grounding .. in Power Electrics: It can happen that the soil in a given site doesn't provide good grounding.. Special compound, mostly dirt, is added to the soil to improve the performance of the grounding system .

And exemple from :

nVent ERICO Quickfill No-Mix Ground Enhancing Backfill:

These are often used with electrical ground rods...
The guys from High End Audio (HEA) takes the notion and peddles B.S. with it. EnteQ Olympus is such a B.S. product: About 80 Kg of dirt in a wooden box for $20,000... Of course the grounding terminal are silver...

They are literally raking profits.

Peace.

Would I be able to DIY that?

This field of electrical grounding is art and science.. You could DIY but , the right mixture is not easy to find...

Back in the days, we used these in some Telecom Sites:
From AllTec Terradyne

Effective and measurably so...

If you use this in your system, the bass will be more grounded, will reach lower... for sure
As for the highs, they will have more foundation and ..
Midrange will acquire the warmth of copper and ...

Peace.

Sorry sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.
Keith
Dense moment...
Many years ago when I was a subjective audiophile, I asked an EE friend to improve my house grounding , because I believed that this would result in in better performance from my stereo system...

Peace.

Next step up, you can order it an any color finish (for modern interiors), including High-Gloss, and/or a set of better wheels:D
$2000 extra!

You don't know anything about it.
The wood can only be felled by virgins during the blood moon and can only be worked with centuries-old tools during the blue hour. The glue made from beetles and animal remains can also only be made at witching hour.
That's literally spot price...
