Mirror has confirmed that it will, I believe via the Video HDMI output, which I believe applies to the base model (z9x 8k) up

Set the volume bypass, so that the A8 will output at 0dB (I think this is what you call "turn off the preamplifier"), then you can do your volume control on your external preamplifier.

I wanted to let you know that I've improved my remote control software for Windows. It can now function with a local version of the DMP-A6 music database, in addition to the integrated SMB browser. With this update, users can navigate through all their tracks on their computer and select which ones they want to play. The program also can create and use local playlists in M3U format.

Was wondering if there's an app that could be installed into the A6 that integrates some kind of opening CD "booklet" feature for music libraries? (previously used a Naim streamer that used Rovi database to populate nice album notes etc.) TIA

for those using the A6 as a preamp, how has the volume output been for you? the manual says it outputs 2.5volts RCA /5volts XLR so it should have the voltage to drive any amp, but it seems to have no volume until more than 3/4 and I have turned it within less than 10 of full volume and my amp isnt as loud as it can get. the amp is old so I am thinking about buying a new amp with XLR inputs (like the V3)

just curious what others have seen

Currently the A6 has a very basic 15 step digital volume control, going from 1 - loud to 15 - deafening. Most people won't need to use this as they will use the analogue outputs, but if you have active speakers with digital inputs then being able to attenuate the digital output volume from the A6 is incredibly useful.

I only use my A6 as a streamer, so this may interest me. I need to see its capabilities.

I don't think that you can turn it on from the app when it has been completely shut down, and that this can only be done via the IR remote.

This may not be the precise answer you are looking for, but it may take care of your needs... my DMP-A6 accesses my music library from my Synology NAS thusly:

I have created a [Synology] "share" that just sees my music files on the NAS (FLACs and DSFs), and I also created a [Synology] user account whose only permissions (read-only) are to this share - the idea was that with this restricted access user, any requirements for some completely unspellable and unmemorable password could be a bit relaxed.
