ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Speaker Review

I use these with the ELAC SUB1010 as a near field desktop setup. I just used an RTA to figure out what settings to use with the speakers running full-range. I prefer them with the grilles off (except the subwoofer because it's under the desk) and also, I think, the tweeter grilles removed. I know these are supposed to be wave guides but I like the extra treble energy I get.

Can anybody tell me what the Q setting is for @amirm 's EQ setting in the review for the high filter in these Elacs? Looks like -2.5 dB at 5khz with a fairly wide Q factor?

My ELAC Mains are still going strong. I might be interested in their newer Debut 3, and waiting to go on sale, to keep within my budget.

OK. I did plug in Amir's settings for the EQ, with a Q factor of 2.0 for the 5000hz reduction - sounds really good, when I toggle the EQ on and off, I definitely like the EQ version better. That bump in the midrange definitely helps the sound!

For these Elacs, for best sound quality should I use my Yamaha receiver's 6 or 8 Ohm setting?

Well, I have a free set of ELAC debut 2.0 B6.2 plus center channel. I replaced with Klipsch bookshelf RP-500M II, on sale 3 weeks ago. I already had some Klipisch speakers, from prior years. I watch Movies.

There is a consensus among YouTubers and online store customers regarding the unbeatable cost-benefit and excellent audio quality of these speakers. I was able to listen to them together with Paradigm Premier 200B, Dali Spektor 2, Polk 265 RT and I have memories of a B&W and its pronounced midrange. If the listener's focus is on the music and not on obsessively testing speakers, there are enough reasons to keep the ELAC debut 2.0 B6.2 for many years and with the certainty that it is the best in a price range up to 3 times higher than theirs. The walnut finish of mine completes my choice and satisfaction.

Just had a listen to the Detroit Symphony live through these speakers. They really are very fine, subjectively uncoloured and timbrally correct (to my ears) speakers even driven unEQ'd by a midfi Yamaha receiver. Wish I had the walnut finish, though. They'd sound even better.

Get a cheap Sansui AU 217 or 317 and you will have a great suprise.

No. It looks original. A recap with good caps will make it even better

The graph of showing fundamental + harmonic distortion components - should that be read as “the harmonic distortion components are about 30 db below the fundamentals at their worst”?

The big deal might be to compare these ELAC with, for axample, a Dali Rubicon 2 or Rubikore 2, that is what I hope to do in 2025.
