Not being a Nikon shooter, I did not spend much time there other than listening to a talk and this display they have at every show to create "matrix" like shots although this was pretty low-end:

Samsung display was more of the same for me. Yes they say they have improved things and came up with "QLED" to stand for Quantum Dot LED but really a play I think to confuse people into thinking the first letter is "O" is an "OLED." I think they made a strategic error in not staying with OLED as LG has.

BTW one trend in displays was fake HDR. Just like upsampling, they claim that by turning up the color and contrast in the TV they are creating what an HDR source would have been. The problem is that no internal processing can manufacture what is not there in the source. So while they do make the display more colorful, they are not high-fidelity.

Speaking of HDR, there were some nice demos like this video of our dog breed, Samoyed, on a white snow background:

This was their failed attempt at a large display to wow the crowd. Quad projectors presenting a rather soft and fuzzy image with an in-set of four real displays which showed how bad the projection display was. And the content was really poor advertisement for products.

Then I saw something shocking: they had a large display dedicated to Harman, both their high-end audio and car technology! This gives me hope that they are not about to do anything bad to their new acquisition:

I got hungry then and smelled some curry. It was a stand on the side of exhibits. After a long wait I get my food and see there is no place to sit! Find a set of stairs that was roped off and go to sit there to eat. A minute later this schmuck security guard shows up and says i can't sit there. So I had to sit on the floor and eat this messy food:

You can see the stairs where I was sitting before getting booted off. :(

This was the guy that told me to move:

He is sitting there with his hand in his mouth. The hired this guy just to be annoying instead of spending the money on a few chairs and tables. The suite with stairs by the way belonged to CES!

I like the BMW! The standard lexicon/harman system in my 2016 740i is really nice. The "upgraded" system is a B&W system. I didn't opt for that one.

Food tasted terrible so I threw out the rest and started to walk, only to pass others with the same sentence as me:

I mean really. How stupid can the show organizers be??? And check out this one:

A show with 200,000 attendees and they can't afford to empty the trash or provide a decent place to sit???

Next was my runner up impressive big display suite and my ex-employer: Sony.

They have developed these small (4x4 inch or so) tiles that you connect together to build arbitrary sized and aspect ratio displays. The seams were only visible in all-black scenes. Otherwise they surprisingly disappeared providing a super bright and detailed image.

CLEDIS technology is targeted towards commercial spaces such as museums, shopping centers, etc. It was the best large sized display I have seen. Projectors with that sized image are too dark and soft. Traditional video walls using standard displays with thin bezel are not seamless. I suspect the cost including installation is staggeringly high but for commercial applications it may be merited.

I was surprised that when it came to displays, they had put OLED front and center. I thought it would be one or two units in the back. But it was not. They were showcasing them like LG who is the supplier of the panels. Just like LG it comes in 65 and 77 inch with later coming probably end of this year.

My camera does not have an antialiasing (low-pass) filter so it has an interference pattern relative to pixels of the display showing those diagonal lines. They were not visible in the set with naked eye.
