Interesting, from the article - the luxury audio market (defined as products with cost > $5k) grew 12% in 2023. I wonder if car audio packages in luxury brands (i.e. Sonus Faber in Maserati) account for any of that.
McIntosh keeps getting bought and sold and never leaves it original factory in Binghamton, NY... of all vestige locations. Next, Samsung buys Bose... and just like that... Revel, McIntosh and Sonus Faber are under the same umbrella... with Bose... lol. That twists my noodle a bit.
ahem.
In seriousness though - McIntosh has been owned by so many different companies and concerns over the years that 1) they're probably all used to it and 2) they'll likely keep plodding along making large, expensive boxes with hypertrophied blue meters for a long, long time.

I predict we'll be seeing more mainstream McIntosh stuff due to this... but I think it's possible they leave the product lineup alone and just increase distribution a bit. It's not the kind of brand that's amenable to lots of extensions unless you're willing to burn the goodwill.
McIntosh has some modern amps as well. Here's a Class D with Hypex modules, SMPS power supplies and blue meters. $4500, 22 lbs. This is one we gotta get Amir to measure... 500 watts!
