BLUESOUND goes Dirac Live

The Node Icon may replace my current Node + Topping E50 combo if it ends up measuring good enough. I’ve been thinking for a while to replace the E50 with the RME DAC-2 FS to do crude room correction, the Node Icon seems like a better fit to my use.

The RME will not be able to hold a candle to the Icon in terms of sound, partly because of Dirac Live. The DAC in the Icon is also a newer model in dual mono configuration.

Does anyone know when the update for Dirac will be available?

The headphone output is also said to be very good:

@amirm
If the Icon is to be tested at ASR, the two headphone outputs should also be examined more closely. Perhaps there are differences between the left and right jack, who knows...

its thx there is to respect some minimal data ..

After years of denying the need for DSD, this unit apparently offers DSD support. We shall see.

The ICON is getting closer and so is Dirac Live

BluOS 4.8.7. Released November 19, 2024
• Initial support for the Bluesound NODE ICON, CYRUS 40 ST and Monitor Caspian.
• Gain control on M66 analog inputs.
• DSD support for the Bluesound NODE ICON, NODE (Gen 5) and NODE NANO.

How long after the Icon is released, will Dirac Live full frequency be available?
Is this another product where it happens years later or not at all?
Don't mean to be negative, but I think it should be released when all features and measurements are posted and ready to go.
With Wiim and other newcomers at much cheaper price points, I think it's safe to say that if Dirac is delayed for very long, or if measurements aren't excellent, it could pretty much be the end of Bluesound.
No pressure. Lol

This should answer your question and also make users of older devices happy:

Have you noticed which manufacturers are now using BluOS (with the Bluesound hardware module), even without Dirac Live? The latest addition was CYRUS.
There is also the Professional division, which uses BluOS.

Right, so maybe supplying other companies with BluOS modules would continue. It's better than nothing I guess.
Probably better for Bluesound to make well engineered, in demand, and as promised products for its customers though I'd think.
I'm not saying it won't happen, I really hope it does. But I'm skeptical.

I would no longer rely on it and would have no confidence that Lenbrook would show more commitment to Bluesound than to NAD. What Lenbrook is doing with NAD is, in my opinion, outrageous. M10 V2 owners can read that only the V3 will get bass management, whenever that may be. What about Dirac for the C 700 V2? A mystery. In Germany we have the offense of misleading advertising. I'm surprised that nobody has filed a complaint against NAD yet. In any case, I've sold all my NAD and Bluesound devices and won't be buying any more.

A group of customers should start a lawsuit. Start holding these companies accountable.
Many or most consumers buy those products really wanting or needing what is supposed to be coming in a future update. Which should also be within a reasonable amount of time, maybe 3 months.
And not only a waste of time and headache, but losing thousands of dollars on incomplete products that hardly anyone else will want later.
Myself, I would like to buy a Bluesound Icon, but I'll be waiting until I see measurements and read about others having a great experience with Dirac Live before doing so. I hope most others wait as well.
If Bluesound doesn't deliver like their NAD products, hopefully Lenbrook will fail.
Nobody else should be deceived.

On the other side, WiiM has accomplished everything they said in a timely manner, and then went way above and beyond with new free upgrades. First was 10 band PEQ, then per channel, and then basic room correction. There might be more upgrades in the future, if not they've already been amazing. Exactly how a customer experience should be.
If WiiM brought out a new product with chromecast, Dirac Live, and digital in/out, I wouldn't even be considering a Lenbrook product.
Hint, hint, WiiM.

On second thought, my system sounds really good as is.
So I'm going to give WiiM some time to come out with a similar product. They deserve the business.
