I tried it today (with a umik-1). Works well as far as I can tell, there was not a single crash or strange software issue during calibration or afterwards. The only limitation that I saw is that Dirac doesn’t work on the USB out. I had to switch to optical to connect my E50 DAC instead and disconnect the USB (otherwise the N130 would always default to USB after power cycling). It sounds good AFAIK, though the volume needs to be cranked up 6dB or so when using Dirac.
There 5 or 6 slots for the calibration settings. Then, one can switch between them and no calibration in the audio settings of the app. There is a few seconds silence and the new filter is then applied. This all pretty neat I must say.
Thanks for the update. I have read about the volume thing whenever Dirac has been used in other devices. I'm not sure, but I THINK I recall that the consensus is that because the EQ is more "balanced" and "even" after equalization, many find the sound "depressed" because their in-room response prior to correction was emphasizing low and/or mid frequencies.
Thanks. I think that the 6db that I have to increase the volume is likely due the added headroom than any depressed feeling of lack of bass.
True. The default target curve is ensuring that it is not flat and that there is some room gain. However, it does not work in my case as I've only the low-frequency Dirac version: the target curve flatten too early and there is a frequency dip 150 and 400Hz.
Yes, one could correct for that but that’s the infamous Bower & Wilkins BBC dip, it’s the speaker voicing. I kind of like it like thatYes, that's better.
You didn't take the full band because we can clearly see the tweeter/speaker cutoff frequency at 2-3 kHz.
