So the treble problem still persists even after the firmware update? @bennybbbx @sivsoft
I think so. The best way I can describe it for my usage is that the treble sort of "wakes up" as soon as the volume dial reaches a certain threshold. It's still fairly quiet, but the volume level toes the line between only being able to hear the music myself and possibly being able to hear it in the next cubicle. I only purchased the speakers a couple weeks ago so and immediately updated the firmware so I don't know how it compares to the way it once was. From scouring the internet it seems like it's much better but not completely resolved.

Yes. And I not recommended to buy this monitors.
Below is my letter to Adam Audio and their "wonderful" response.

In other words, they know about this problem, but since they "seem" not to have been inundated with letters of dissatisfaction, then everything is fine. The problem will not be fixed. If you don't like something, go to the seller and sort it out with him. I am a little shocked by such a response from a respected company. Its reputation has collapsed in my eyes.

I think to remember that also some Focal Alpha models had similar, guess its due to the trick for such lower cost class D designs to give the impression of low hiss level.

Interesting. But question in that: why Adam Audio lie to us and tale that this "compact nearfield monitoring system... Designed for songwriters, producers, and music lovers"? Or lie in this: "A signature AMT tweeter is incorporated in the form of the 1.5” D-ART, for the same precise and unfatiguing high-end that the established monitors are known for". If all their modern monitors are like this, then... well, this is a company to stay as far away from as possible. But I very hope that I mistake.

And quarter the price. Charts are nice, but can you describe what it means to you and how they sound different to you?
FYI i got the revised MR4 which are really flat. Both speakers are great, its amazing how much bass these little D3Vs can pump out.

Gotta listen more first to describe the differences.

really bad what adam answer, they should at least add that the gate can be switch off. but i have luck. I have now longer time hear with the new update. I dont know wy this happen on your example. all i hear youtube, youtube shorts i get no tweeter mute. I also hear speach videos on which i have set low volume (50 db show measure) and it sound not dull. music i like i hear with ~ 75 db , maybe my luck is that i increase volume on silent passages in music i like to reach 75 db because i like it more when alll is play louder. with 75 db because of the 2 passive it give at this volume low bass feeling when have arms on desktop. I have check my focal alpha 65 evo with apollo solo and the pultec EQ. it is now good to correct too, but the important thing for feeling i miss or need make very loud because the membrane on 6,5 inch do less movements so it can not produce such low bass vibrations. low bass vibrations on desktop give the impression bass sound louder as on 6.5 inch.

For me the firmware update has completely fixed the treble problem. Was very obvious (and very annoying) before the firmware update with muffled sound at low levels or treble 'fading' in and out - like described by others here. Now even when playing very quietly the sound character doesn't change at all and maintains detailed and airy highs - and overall I'm super impressed with the sound quality for the size and price point. I run mine via USB-C connection.

One note (not sure it makes a difference though) is that I run them at 100% volume in windows and only control the volume using the rotary controller (usually around 9-10 o'clock position).

Clear to me. But you listen of d3v very loud.

Please, tell me, what is music of your preference.

You have normal loud +-, but previous question: what kind of music you listen?

And another question: 75db is max volume or 75db is min volume?

Not sure I would call that very loud... For reference, the piece you mentioned above (Tenuous Winners / Returning Home) at 9 o'clock volume position measured average 59.3db and peak 67.9db (using an iphone dbmeter app, measured over the whole duration of the piece).

Good. Then please tell me, on volume position at 9 o'clock in middle of the this composition will you hear how violins float and tweeter periodically off? Or volume position at slightly more above 9 o'clock? This is important, because on 100% windows mixer volume minimal change position on d3v's volume regulator greatly affects the change in volume.

I'm thinking of getting these to free up space on my desk. They'd be replacing a pair of JBL LSR305s. I use them primarily for pc gaming, and listening to music (mostly metal). I'm concerned about the downgrade in woofer size, but in reality I never listen very loud with the 305's as it is. Would I notice enough of a difference switching?

The volume issue with the tweeter still persists even after firmware update but it depends what one considers “quiet” listening. I use them at my cubicle desk and the volume required to avoid the issue makes it audible from the next desk over. It’s slightly louder than I would want without disturbing others. Adam’s response has been that they don’t plan on issuing any more firmware updates. I’m not waiting for them to fix the problem so I returned them and got Kanto Ora4’s. Very happy with the decision to switch.

I’ll tell you what. The Kanto Ora4’s play incredibly deep for only a 4” woofer and aren’t appreciably larger than the Adams. If you’re considering the D3V I’d also check the Ora4.

This is about my experience. 100% volume from the source (phone or computer) and the volume knob needs to be slightly above 9 o’clock to avoid the gating issue which creates an enormous jump in volume as the tweeter wakes up. Lowering volume on the source and increasing volume on the speaker doesn’t change the behavior.

Это о моем опыте.

Thank you for your experience.

I have already calmed down. I have read, looked at modern lines. And I realized that even for $500 for each monitor you will not get sensible monitors now. The old Adam AX line has been simplified/made worse. Made cheaper by using cheap amplifiers. I do not know if they simplified the speakers themselves. In order to compensate for this, they introduced a DSP with an ADC, that's all folks, ready... and all this is sold for the same money as the old good line.
I like ribbon tweeters. They are detailed, clear. But to buy a normal monitor now you need significantly more money. Either the S line from Adam, or Hedd, but I am not sure about the latter. They do not write anything about what is used in their monitors, but they are more expensive. In general, a pig in a poke.
