My current desk space is quite small, so I'm planning to get powered speakers that have woofers sized 4.5" and below.
Also, there is little space for an extra audio interface or a preamp for speakers. Which means I'd prefer a plug-and-play USB/AUX solution.
(I'm moving to a new place next year, and will finally get a whole new audio setup w/ subwoofers.)
There seem to be a lot of great products, and these are what I've discovered so far.
