Casual desktop/computer audio (KRK vs Adam audio)

I want to replace my audioengine a2+
OK, I can see why.

Beating these into shape with parametric EQ is not an option? That could be done for a grand total of $0 (e.g. Equalizer APO + PEACE) and to good effect, since horizontal dispersion is not terrible and you're in nearfield. It obviously would not help the relatively narrow vertical sweet spot or limited level handling.

I have heard neither, the D3Vs are barely even out yet (so nobody else could have) and the KRKs seem to have received little attention in the limited time they've been on the market. Odds are both would be an upgrade in level handling, and likely vertical dispersion as well. The big question mark always is hiss levels.

Hi there op, i have the goaux4 though im pretty new here i in general like good sound and i know that sound is subjective but if you are planning on getting the goaux4's i recommend you to have a good dac with volume controls because of the fact that the ga4's are annoying to reach out to when you want to change volumes. Also the reason for wanting a separate dac is due to the rather poor on board dac it has. I personally use mine with a mojo2 from chord and what i can say with them is utterly incredible imaging soundstage and surprising levels of bass. It wont match my towers nor my bookshelves but for how tiny they are they offer big sound. Now without an external dac, i wouldnt really recommend them, they are eh at best. theres a few things ive left out but just ask me anything you want about them im just telling the general pros and cons for using them.

I'm assuming size and cost are the primary constraints, since the two options you linked are both pretty small and inexpensive?

Have you considered the IK Multimedia iLoud Micro? Spinorama available here. Or another alternative would be the Edifier MR4, ASR review here.

Hm. While there's no telling how much smoothing was applied in their measurement, going by how well the Adam T5V did in its ASR review it might be quite legit. In that case, the D3V might be the way to go.
