2.0 vs. 5.1

Are there many of us who run a system that does both two channel and theater? I wish someone would come up with a really good receiver with powerful cutting edge D class amps. It seems like receivers don't move forward with higher end technology as much as the rest of the industry. The receivers that used to be lauded: Arcam, Anthem etc. have been disappointing in the tests. The Denon seems to be okay, but I think most people want better than okay. I think there must be a market for a really good audphile receiver.

I think someone who wants this would do a good 2 channel (or 3 channel) separate amp using the preamp out and then use 2.1 for hifi and 5.1 for HT. And maybe use bypass mode.
