Well, you’re right in that the Salons’ form did not follow function, and so what? FFF is not the only worthy design concept.
I for one can’t stand another shoe-box - we’ve all seen millions of those, and they even turn up in this thread.
(And most shoe-box manufacturers STILL do not even bother to round their boxes‘ edges. o_O )

Oh you are right. I'm no fan of yet another "me-too" box, so I actually appreciate that Revel sought to make a distinguished looking speaker.
I just didn't find it ultimately successful.

I own a pair, in piano black, somewhat unfortunately, but there was already a piano black piano in the room...
They are a bit massive, a bit ostentatious, and a bit threatening imho. I'd go for white if I had to do it again.
I bet they do feel big. My Focal Aria 948s seem huge. Perfectly logical to match the piano. I bet they sound great with piano music too. Mine are incredible with piano and cello.

I've been wanting to post but it's hard to think of examples that really draw me in.

I think the ADAM S3V is very beautiful. Small details in the shape de-monkey coffined it.

Bob Carver's Amazing Line Source looks more sci-fi than hi-fi.

Those are beautiful.

I'm curious: Which speakers are you referring to? Do you prefer the look of the Thiels (first photos) or the Joseph Perspectives (last photo)?

Since the big Davone speakers and the Avantgarde Zeroes have already beenmentioned, let me propose a few more conservative but imho very tasteful designs:

OSIRIS-IMG_0952-Dg.jpg

The Trenner & Friedl Osiris

PIEGA_Classic80.2.jpg

The Piega Classic 40 / 60 / 80 family

Triangle Magellan Duetto

And finally for something less traditional:

The Cabasse Pearl & Pearl Akoya

Edit: One more, because I feel like these, although not luxuriously pretty are a great design and deserve attention:

KSD 2080 (Fully active, digitally compensated coaxial speakers with four woofers on the back)

I think every single one of these is ugly. Though the initial post has perhaps the ugliest. They're speakers. They're boxes you hear. The less noticeable their looks the better. Any cent spent on gaudiness is a cent wasted. Form < function. Waf is the only important thing for looks.
