You can get the incoming preamp just for that if you want.

It is. Just that it doesn't have a remote control so you have to adjust the knob. The noise and distortion performance are top notch.

OP amps have come a long way and there are now very specialized OP amps for various applications that are so well designed they beat out discreet circuitry.

Sorry I did not apply for permission to disassemble the device and publish internal photos ... I think the basic confidentiality of the prototype is reasonable ... so I did not try to do that at all.
