This is why I'm surprised more people aren't on board with the Creative Labs T50 ii, it's still being made 13 years later and cheaply, considering the decent quality of reproduction. It only makes sense to review speakers which are readily available on the new retail market. Otherwise it's just a pet project.
Maybe the 5" version might be the best candidate, Erin did the 6" version....I'd like to see how they compare...Elac Debut 3.0
AKA "bright," based on what I've heard, but yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing these tested as well.Emotiva XB2; like poor man's Neat Petites!
The "clarity kings", based on what I've heard.
Now you have just barely entered the "BUDGET" zone that I am interested in ($2-$7K). Bravo!New Falcon F50 small 2-ways knocked it out of the park at AXPONA this weekend. Especially at only $2k/pr, they had extended bass, and midrange and spookily-good soundstage equal to the $4k+ LS3/5a in same room. Bravo, Falcon.
In the OP it was around $200/pair. If you're looking to spend $2-7k you're in the wrong thread. There needs to be some bracketing of who's budget. I have saved for many years & do not want to buy another inexpensive speakers, as I do not want the compromises involved.
