Just out from Naive, the positive attributes of this recording are growing on me as I give it a second run through. As always, cellist Christophe Coin is second to none in this repertoire.

My advice: if you're at all inclined to this sort of thing, don't hesitate.

I am also a big fan of Christophe Coin's playing. He is the cellist of the Quatuor Mosaiques, which performs on gut strings. Tidal (and no doubt other streaming services) has many of their albums. I especially like their Haydn.

Absolutely. Quatuor Mosaiques recordings of Haydn and Beethoven have been a treasured part of my collection for decades.

Different venue from usual. Really highlights how accurate digital plus an NC amp is. Not “harsh”, accurate.

And how vague a thing “soundstage is, given multiple mics and a reflective space. They recorded it and it will be up as a podcast in a few weeks. The Multi-mic setup on its own may VW confounding.
