What are the best, smallest high end speakers?

New in town. By best I mean flattest and most objectively true sounding to source material. I would prefer actives but passive suggestions I would be open to. Is there a law of diminishing (literally) returns with smaller speakers. Physics does kick in the smaller you go. I am talking compact.

So far I have KH80 and Genelec 1 or 2 on my list. Mucho thanks.
Ok, now that we have beaten the Neumann and Genelec options to death, let's broaden your choice a bit, shall we? Take a look at the Harbeth NLE-1 active speakers. I read somewhere that they have a very flat FR curve. The price would certainly fit your 'high end' requirement better than the Neumann offerings. Hehe.

Not so flat, 60 to 20 kHz within 3 dB margin is inferior to 8030C, which remains on the 54-21 kHz at +-2 dB…

I couldn’t see measurements of the thing itself, but doesn’t look so good if even with DSP and 3000€ of budget cannot show a perfect straight line :)

So Kef kc62 or a genelec sub in small mixing room?? anyone??
I now understand: it goes to 11 Hz, forcing a 6,5 cone to infrasound may cost a lot of energy.

I will personally go to Genelec F Two, stops more reasonably on 27 Hz with an 8 inches woofer. And with 100 watts one cannot risk a tropical climate specially in small rooms…

I haven't read the entire thread, but I searched and saw the JBL 705p and 708p have not been mentioned. These pro monitors pack alotta oomph into a small package. At Sweetwater (USA) $999 / $1799 each, respectively.
I’m curious if they aren’t suffering from the same issue as the above mentioned Kef subwoofer: 500 watts per speaker?

I understand the woofer needs a lot of watts to achieve 39 Hz, but 250 watts for the tweeter to 101 dB SPL?

The cones are made of stone?

Price is not very affordable neither…

Digital amplifiers. Cost/Watt not linear. Might as well have the headroom.

I will say the 705P's sound just effortless, even at high levels.

Check these on sale $859. PR

I'm a big fan of Lii. I have the P-10s & S-10s

We use both at work, Kef for aesthetics without a doubt. If you are integrating with Genelec monitors go Genelec. Otherwise Paradigm Seismic 110 or on a budget Kali WS-6.2, both of these outperform the KC62. A lot of other options but because you mentioned the KC62 and I am guessing you meant the Genelec F1 or F2 because I figured you want a smaller sub. SVS and many others make some nice subs but tend to be larger.

Ok, I didn’t know the non linear behavior of cost-power. Interesting thing to do a little research.

I usually listen at 70-75 dB @ 1m, so find my 100 watts per monitor power large enough.

The subwoofer I would go to, Genelec F Two, have a 100 watts amp with 103 dB SPL max. Do you think will be enough to my listening volume?

At 75 dB SPL, transients will have 28 dB headroom, so largely sufficient but I don’t know if at low frequencies this is deifferent.

My apologies I was speaking of genelec 7040, so in. What way do you mean that seismic and Kali will outperform the kef? Because of size benefits?
