New in town. By best I mean flattest and most objectively true sounding to source material. I would prefer actives but passive suggestions I would be open to. Is there a law of diminishing (literally) returns with smaller speakers. Physics does kick in the smaller you go. I am talking compact.

So far I have KH80 and Genelec 1 or 2 on my list. Mucho thanks.

I have the Genelec 1029A, which were their smallest 'speaker some 20 years ago. I would expect the current 8000 series to be better, especially with SAM.

Incorrect information removed so as not to muddy the thread

However, the Genelec One and Two are not active, just powered, so they still have a passive crossover.

The KH80 is a proper active loudspeaker so that would be my preference over the ONE or TWO.

Did not know this. I would want an active xover.

Actually, that’s not correct. The G series all have active crossovers:

Apologies. The spec I read referred to them as 'powered' loudspeakers with 50 watts amplification. It didn't make clear that was 25w+25w, with an electronic crossover.

I have edited my post to remove the incorrect information.

You won't get better than KH80. Maybe 8331 too but at a much higher cost. These are already tiny speakers and I wouldn't go much smaller.

Kh80 dsp has a lot of sound for the size and measures amazingly and has a good price, have a pair and love them. The ls50 meta is larger but sounds and looks amazing, also have a pair. Both need a subwoofer or really any thing of the size.

I am continually impressed by the JBL 705Ps. These little guys do a great job. And you can get them at a decent discount from time-to-time.

Depends on listening distance and required bass capability. KH80 with KH750, or Genelec 8331 with 7360 or KH750.

I have 8020a on my desktop, and the recent addition of a KH750 was real game changer.

There are a couple in development but not available quite yet.
